After listening to other buyer and sellers we have decided
to utilize this page to further explain some things eBay, USPS, haven made
simple enough in hopes it will help. We will also list our hours of operation,
tentative schedule, and policies on how we handle situations we find may be
useful to our buyers & friendly sellers.
Shanty Shop hours of operation:
Monday Friday 7am pm (other times by chance for answering
questions)
We start in the morning answering as many
questions as we can
Upload new listings
On to packing items for shipping quotes or
actual shipping
Cleaning & organizing items to be listed
Photographing our items for listings
Answer more questions and update listing with
accurate shipping if not already included in listings
On to post office to drop off packages which
we have received payment for
If we are light on packages that are ready for
shipment we may hold for a day or put in for USPS pick up for the following day
If time remains we start again
Break for dinner & private time
Check and answer questions best we can just
prior to retiring for the night (by chance)
Shipping information:
USPS
USPS does NOT Track items for shipping unless
express service is selected
Confirmation of shipping is ONLY to confirm
delivery
Will NOT show in their system unless
additional funds are paid at local office counter (we have arrangements to drop
off just like their carriers do and do not take the additional time to stand in
line at counter and fill out the little green slip, and pay the 55 cents) If
this is necessary to you, you will need to contact us prior to invoicing and be
willing to pay additional for the added time and funds required to get into
their system.
We are a rural area and time lines at times
take a bit longer for them to fulfill their obligations
We expect our buyers to take some
responsibility and save your invoice and tracking/delivery information to check
on your item status where applicable.
We do NOT charge additional for insurance only
pass on the fee to you this is considered a reimbursable expense that you are
paying for, this means you the buyer are taking on the responsibility for
filing any claims necessary includes loss/damage in which you can get further
information direct from USPS.COM or follow the links that both paypal and ebay
offer in their web site by searching for (file shipping claim)
/span>We do
charge additional packing fees not to exceed $3 per box unless special request
are made prior to receiving invoice, if request is made after receiving
invoice, we then refund payment if already made and re-issue invoice to include
additional fees to cover special shipping handling requests.
FedEx
We will use FedEx when items weight is over 5lbs
and will amount in considerable savings along with box size requirements
FedEx does track items from the time they are
scanned in at local office, normally when they pick up and is not always on a
daily basis. I have seen it take up to two days to show in their system. This
does NOT mean it has not been dropped off it just means that the rural area did
not have enough packages to make it worth while to send pick up for the
packages.
Normal shipping times I have personally seen
run 3-10 days for ground or residential service.
Insurance is included in shipping with FedEx
up to $50
Buyer may go to FedEx.com to inquire of
packages sent this way with shipping confirmation # supplied via e-mail when
the label is created
USP
We will use UPS for additional fee of $5,
which covers pick up, and fuel surcharges they have a tendency to charge AFTER
we have already charged and shipped item to buyer. I have lost much money by
shipping after payment for quoted rate and then received invoice for fuel surcharge
of $5 + on ONE package. My priced many times do not include a mark up high
enough to cover this kind of loss.
UPS reg. Rates also include insurance up to
first $50 and can be tracked on like with supplied confirmation # at time of
printing label

on claim for (person filing claim) which means BUYERS CAN file claims
regardless of what local office personnel don know and haven checked into.
I have had to tell my local office what their web site states in order to get
them to do what the web site says they will do. I have also taken copies of
their web instructions with me to insure they do their job.Many time just inquiring will prompt them to
look but once and a while you get a new person or someone having a bad day and
they just don want to. Take all the information you have from web sites along
with invoice and payment proof to insure it done. Ask for the postmaster if
you have to.
Our Policies

In order to keep prices low we rely on our
buyers to assist us
1. Utilize tracking & confirmation # that are ALWAYS
sent to buyer at time label is printed
2. Inform us if and when you have tried and failed
3. Inform us when you need to file a claim so we are
prepared with the follow up information that will be sent to us from shipping
carrier to verify your claim
4. Inform us when you are un happy with item for what ever
reason prior to filing neg. feedback so we can try and settle
5. Inform us if you find a problem prior to filing for
charge back (once charge back is filed we no longer respond to e-mails only
through claim resolution to protect both of us)
6. If you question something in a listing, don bid first,
ask questions first
7. If you have missed placing a bid on item ended and not
sold we do normally re-list in store but due to additional charges we do not
list at same or lower rate as many would like. So to insure the price at auction
BID. Items are listed many times at auction for the price we pay and less, so
we seldom re-list at a lower price
8. If you are inquiring of a buy it now price on auction
item include an offer, and keep in mind it at auction so we are hoping to get
more than our starting price. Hint$1 more will NOT entice us to post a buy it
now. If a bid is already placed we will NOT pull the item early so BID. (The
only time this may happen is if we are holding a sale locally and have not had
the chance to pull the item prior to bid being placed NEVER for on line sale.
(We get cash on the spot locally and that can happen on line)
9. We purchase items at auctions, moving sales, yard &
garage sales and where ever we can so we can NOT guarantee from smoke free or
pet free home as they are NOT new items, even our new items are many times
purchased at store closing auctions so we don know.
10. We utilize recycled packing when we can so if you insist
on NEW packing be prepared to pay additional charges, and ask for a quote first.
11. We strive to include as much information as we can in our
listing, but on occasion we miss something or a photo gets uploaded
incorrectly. If you notice this please let us know or ask if it looks confusing
as item description does not match photo.
12. We do not offer refunds so be sure to ask any information
you need to make an informed purchase. Ie. Gross misrepresentation is not when
you receive an item that has been damaged in shipping, this is a shipping claim
to be file with shipping carrier. If you choose not to insure it is your loss
sorry but that that. If you choose NOT to file a claim because YOU decide
seller has not packaged properly, your loss. Claim MUST be filed for a refund
from shipping carrier.
