FORMERLY "THE LITTLE STOCK EXCHANGE" OF WALL STREET!
From 1995 until 9-11-2001, we operated a sidewalk vending stand on the corner of Wall Street and Broad right outside the NYSE, at the entrance to the illustrious JP Morgan building at 23 Wall Street (Pictures show the scripophily section of the stand). The Little Stock Exchange became world famous (we were filmed or interviewed daily, and had thousands of U.S. and foreign customers weekly, some of whom sold us incredible collections that still remain in our arcives).
Our business was launched in the cradle of American financial history, at its most historic corner. It took root at the very site on which the FIRST Stock Exchange was born 210 years ago when a small band of traders started selling shares under a Buttonwood tree there, and soon became the world-renowned "Curbside Traders" of Wall Street. It stood within one block of Trinity Church and the world headquarters of the Bank of New York, Chase Bank and countless other U.S. financial institutions, in the shadow of the National Sub-Treasury Building, America's first Capitol Building where George Washington was inaugurated and where all the Goverment's Gold was stored prior to being moved to Fort Knox. Countless waves of history have washed over that corner, including the attempted assasination of Morgan which left bomb craters in the wall behind our stand's site a century earlier.
We had to discontinue The Little Stock Exchange due to its destruction during yet another bombing, that of the World Trade Center on 9-11, and much-tightened security around the perimiter of the NYSE since that fateful day. We started selling on ebay as a result of many former and new customers asking us to offer our material online.
Our ebay enterprise is dedicated to the memory of our sidewalk stand and its many loyal customers and friends, some of whom were lost on 9-11. We hope to carry on the tradition started on the sidewalks of New York over 10 years ago right here on ebay.
