I represent the third generation of stamp collectors in my family, although unlike my Dad and Granddad I am a bit of a late starter - they collected since they were boys. My brief romance with stamps as a child was at least 6 weeks long! However, now I am making up for lost time. I have a passion for the stamps of Great Britain, particularly the 1840 Penny Black, the first stamp ever printed. She represents to me the most beautiful stamp ever printed - if Plato collected stamps, he would choose the Penny Black for its purity of Form - the line engraving is superb and when it is 4 margined used, particularly with the red Maltese Cross contrasting the black profile of Queen Victoria, I lose myself in the stamp! I have a substantial collection of Penny Blacks and hope over the decades ahead to reconstruct sheets of them, by plate numbers.   Some enjoyable material For me, stamps open up the world and that's another reason why I am here to serve you in your philatelic needs.
