About the Business:
JR COLOMBIAN EMERALDS is an American company established in 1995 by Jorge Rodriguez as a wholesale supplier of Natural Colombian emeralds, and we endeavor to keep a large inventory of select quality emeralds to fulfill the needs of our many customers all over the world. We can supply emeralds in all shapes, sizes, cuts, qualitites, from commercial stones to high end grade emeralds at extremely reasonable and affordable prices. We primarily work directly with our buyers in the jewelry industry and wholesale gem distributors, but also supply emeralds and jewelry directly to the consumer at the same wholesale prices.
We are able to do this because we buy our emeralds directly from the Muzo, Coscuez, La Pita and the Chivor mines right when a production is found, getting the best stones at the lowest prices. Our full time business partner and emerald purchaser lives in Bogota with an office in the emerald district by the Jimenez Avenue on Carrera Septima near the mines. He is on location to find the best rough emeralds straight from the mines and is well placed to be at the emerald auctions which regularly occur right after a large production of emeralds comes out of the mines. He is well known in the area as one of the best emerald specimen hunters in the world and many of the specimens that he has found are of such high quality and size that they are now on display in museums. Once our partner purchases the rough emerald crystals, expert faceters are enlisted to cut the emeralds into beautiful and brilliant shapes for us. The emeralds are then shipped to our location in the United States every several days and we either sell the loose gemstones or we set the stone in a beautiful piece of jewelry to be worn. It is easy to see why we are the best and most reliable source for emeralds, and how we can afford to give the best prices in the market. About the People:
My name is Jorge Rodriguez and I have been in the business of emeralds for over 20 years. I am originally from Colombia, but moved to the United States many years ago. Having grown up in Colombia, I have been surrounded by emeralds most of my life, so I decided to start selling them in the United States after moving here. I started JR Colombian Emeralds out of my apartment in 1995, and have been working on growing and expanding the business ever since. I have three children and my wife, Monica, works with me in the jewelry store. When I started the business, I only worked with the rough and loose emerald gemstones, but in 2005, I decided to open up a jewelry store with my emeralds and the jewelry expertise of my friend and Master Jeweler, James. I opened the jewelry store in Jupiter, FL and then hired another brilliant jewelry designer, Orlando, who does many original jewelry designs for our company. Although we now work with all kinds of stones and all kinds of metal with our jewelry, I still focus my energy on making sure that quality natural emeralds are available to everyone at an affordable price.
