Greetings Hi, my name is Pat. I'm the good looking fat guy in the above picture. The young fellow next to me is my son and my best friend. I've been collecting comics since 1956. I started dealing in 1965 in the old RBCC and later in THE BUYERS GUIDE. I started working comic & card shows in N.J. in 1985 and can still be found at shows in Central Jersey. I found eBay in 1998 and have been happily hooked ever since. Since then I've earned a feedback rating that I'm very proud of, check it out. Bid with confidence as I stand by all my items. COMIC GRADING STANDARDS MINT---Mint can be found in the candy section of your local grocery. It won't be found in any ad placed by me. NEAR MINT (NM)---This is the highest grade I will ever give a comic. It must be newsstand perfect. Possibly one or two small nearly invisible stress marks on the spine and the smallest of bindery tears (1/8 inch) at the corners. If put on the rack at the local comic shop you would think it just came out. VERY FINE (VF)---An extremely attractive copy with great eye appeal. Moderate to high cover gloss. Spine may have a couple small stress lines and may show wear at the staples upon close examination. A small 1/4 inch crease at the corners is allowed. If held at arms length a book in this grade would appear to be near mint at first look. FINE (FN)---An above average copy that shows minor wear. Book is still relatively flat and clean with no serious defects. It may have some minor creasing and soiling. Cover reflectivity is reduced, but still present. A subscription crease is not allowed in this grade. A small piece of "magic" tape (no more than 1 inch) on an interior page or inside the cover on an otherwise higher grade book is allowed, but must be mentioned in the item description. Pages and interior covers may be tan, but must be supple with no hint of brittleness. VERY GOOD (VG)---Probably about 50% or more of all comics prior to 1965 are in this grade. This is the average used comic. Book may have multiple stress marks on the spine. It may have a subscription crease. Some discoloration, fading, soiling and minor water stains are allowed. Staples may show rusting. The book may have a couple small pieces out as well as a couple small tears. Cover or centerfold may be loose at one staple, but still attached at the other. Tape repairs are common, and should be mentioned in the ad copy unless extremely minor and unobtrusive. Pages and covers may be starting to brown, but are still supple with no brittleness. A VG book will not have all of these defects, but could have several. Still a highly collectible book. GOOD (GD)---A comic in this grade is complete with all pages and covers. There may be several small pieces out of the covers and pages. Books in this grade are usually creased, scuffed, soiled and stained. They may have spine splits up to about 2 inches. Page quality is low but not brittle; however, a cover edge that chipped due to brittleness would be allowed if the remaining book was not brittle. A coupon could be out from the pages or back cover as long as no story page is affected. This would be noted in the ad copy and the book would be reduced in price. A book with all the defects listed in the VG section would fall into this grade. Tape is common and would not be mentioned unless it detracts from the cover or stains the book in some way. FAIR (fr)---Extremely unattractive book. Very soiled, ragged, stained, etc. May have large chunks missing. Water stains that cause severe fading or running of ink. Paper quality is low and may have minor brittling, but the book is still readable. Spine may be split close to it's entire length. A coupon could be out, but should be mentioned in the ad copy. A "fair" book will not be the pride of your collection, but will suffice until a better copy comes around. POOR (Pr)---A book in this grade just plain sucks. It's worse than fair so you know it must be bad. It may have pages missing, although this should be mentioned in the ad copy. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. SELL YOUR COMICSHave you got comics you want to sell but don't want to spend hours listing them yourself? Are you tired of having dealers only offer 10%-20% of the Guide price for your best books and nothing for the rest? Then contact me and ask about my consignment program. I'll grade your books, price them, write the ad copy, list them, and mail them to the winners. I do all the work for a small percentage of the final sale price.
