The following details apply to ALL of our trailers:
Buy with Confidence!
This page may seem long, but it should be a testimony of how everything I can possibly disclose IS disclosed. My documentation and details usually goes well beyond what anybody else is willing to tell you. I've been selling trailers online for years... check my feedback, I have positive feedback from trailer customers dating back to the middle of 2001 yet I've only gotten one "neutral" feedback, due to something flying up and breaking a wire. The only negative feedback I got was from somebody who didn't even buy anything, they didn't look at the map before bidding then was mad about it, and eBay wouldn't take it off. The main person I work with has been working with trailers for about 35 years. This isn't a fly-by-night rookie business.
Delivery / Pickup
You must pick this trailer up yourself in Charleston MO or Paducah KY, or prepay and provide your own shipping. I do not have distributors in other areas of the nation. Please make an appointment for pickup. The pickup is by appointment only due to all of us either having multiple jobs, working multiple locations, or attending college. Hours are usually 11 AM - 5 PM central time Monday through Friday in Charleston. The Paducah location is also open Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM central time. Other hours, such as evenings and weekends may be available in Paducah, but the normal hours will have multiple people around to help in case the lighting doesn't agree with your vehicle's ground or something similar. Please check a site such as www.mapquest.com to estimate your trip before you bid, using the destination city of
Paducah KY or Charleston MO so the trip doesn't end up being longer than you expected.
Quality
Our basic package trailers are of a higher quality than most all manufacturers in this price range, no joke. These are great trailers. The steel is usually thicker, the welds are usually better, there is less spatter due to a more expensive shielding gas, etc. Actually, many places take more major shortcuts such as rating trailers that look like our base model at 5,000 pounds, which only allows you to haul maybe 3,500 pounds total instead of 5,500. However, to make everything spotless enough to satisfy some overly demanding perfectionist customers, they would have to be built with robotics, have a $2,000 paint job, and other over-the-top expensive details. Most people simply don't want to pay for "the best", they want a good compromise between high quality and affordability, they want to pay for usability instead of bragging rights. So, to keep costs down, there may still be some minor imperfections in the welds, splits/knots in the lumber, etc. For example, on our base model tandem trailer, the average person cannot even buy the raw steel to make this trailer for the price of this whole trailer so don't expect it to be nice enough to take to a trailer show. At the lower prices, our trailers are normally painted industrial black with white pinstriping, not primered, and not painted underneath, which is pretty standard across all manufacturers in this price range. Actually some of them use paint thinner and barely fog paint on the lumber, and that's just the minor stuff, you wouldn't believe some of the stories I've heard. The wires are also typically not in conduit. Don't get me wrong, they're not junky by any means, they're actually built great and have a great design, but some people just have unreal expectations at the lower prices, they don't understand that some features that are usually not needed add to the cost of the trailer significantly, and most other people would rather save their money. The way they normally come is very common with most utility trailers, even on trailers that cost much more than ours, so don't take these comments the wrong way, we just don't include unneeded fluff. Yes, if you look hard enough, you're going to find imperfections, and if you jump up and down on one of the corners while its empty sure its going to flex a little, but guess what? Everybody else's trailers that are anywhere near my prices are also like this. The difference is that I am cheaper and I tell you up front. Actually most every trailer out there flexes if you jump on the corners anyway, it's not a sign of a poorly made trailer.
Usage
Please order a trailer that is suitable for the job! Certain options are available for a reason! Don't order the smallest car hauler we have, with rails, and try to haul a 64 Impala lowrider or a 5,500 pound Bobcat. Do not exceed the rating of the trailer, which is NOT the total amount of weight you can put in the cargo area, that is the GVW of the whole trailer, the rating of the axles. This means you have to subtract the weight of the trailer from the rating. This will give you your maximum capacity, which also assumes the weight is spread out well. If it is not, and you have concentrated loads, you will need to upgrade trailers and possibly get a heavier frame such as a 5" channel flatbed, extra crossmembers, extreme duty ramps with supporting feet, etc.
Used tires
Unless specified otherwise, our 7,000 pound and under trailers come standard with used vehicle tires and used black solid steel wheels. Lots of people
want to know exactly how much tread is left and how long they will last, but every last one of them is different so that is impossible to say. Most tires
have maybe 10% tread left, 20% at the very most and that's not common. It's not much. However, you're not going to get any that are so worn that the belts are obviously showing alot or anything like that, plus if they are installed and are leaking while sitting on the lot, they are replaced. Since they are used, and they are all different, they are considered complimentary and are not guaranteed. Actually even the new tires are not guaranteed, but these definitely aren't. Most places just say "good used tires" and be done with it, but alot of people want a little more description than this. They are all 15" tires.
Warranty
There isn't one. Please inspect your trailer upon arrival and make sure it is what you want. If you don't like it, walk away and I'll give you a full refund. I've never had to do this but I offer it anyway.
Payment
Prepayment in full is preferred for a cleaner and speedier transaction, but at least a 25% deposit is required on all orders with the balance due in cash upon pickup. This is not a huge shop so we don't have tons of trailers to look at beforehand. These are custom built on demand to your specifications, so the deposit is there as your promise that you'll show up after it is built for you. Since they usually are custom built, please allow 5
business days after the deposit is received before pickup unless specifically agreed upon otherwise. Multiple trailers or larger and very detailed construction trailers may take
up to 2 weeks. All our new trailer auctions are fixed price auctions. A "bid" does constitute a purchase at that price.
Custom Orders
If you order a trailer that is not in stock and needs to be custom built, a 25% non-refundable deposit is due to get started on it, with the remainder due in cash upon pickup. IF needed, usually it can be available in less than a week, depending on what else is going on. However, waiting longer may produce the best results, mainly because of the paint, but also the welders won't feel rushed. To get it within a few days means that you will be picking it up right after it was built, which isn't a problem, but it also means immediately after it was painted. Keeping in mind that our paint coat is usually thicker than other places, I can guarantee that many custom trailers picked up as soon as possible in this manner will have paint that isn't cured. This mostly means that nicks are more likely, runs are possible, and fenders may have pieces of paint come off after running at highway speeds if it is raining. It's completely up to you, but if you order a custom build that has to be built from scratch, you may not want to rush the build then pick it up as soon as possible. Allowing 1.5-2 weeks works better, if you can afford the time.
Paperwork
At the time of the transaction, you will get a title/MSO, a bill of sale, and serial number tag. The serial number tag is a metallic decal and the title is a white sheet with a carbon copy, just like pretty much all manufacturers have been using for over 30 years. Some workers at DMV's expect a riveted metal plate and a watermarked title as if it's a motor vehicle for some reason but those aren't available. These are perfectly legit and standard. This should be all you need to get it home and then licensed in any state. Temporary tags are not available from the state of Kentucky, but the provided paperwork should be ok temporarily until you can get it registered. It should be noted that Kentucky is a notary state, meaning that I have to sign over the title in front of a notary public as a witness, and they have to stamp it, otherwise, other states won't accept it. This means that sometimes it's a pain in the rear to find an available one, so due to the timing, sometimes I may need to mail you the title a few days later, but I will do it ASAP.
Sales Tax
Kentucky treats trailers as any other item for sale, and not a motor vehicle, which means an additional 6% sales tax applies on ALL orders, even out of state residents, unless you are reselling and provide a tax exemption form.
The reason this applies even though this is an Internet sale is that you are actually picking it up in Kentucky, and not having it delivered out of state like most other Internet purchases.
However, your bill of sale will document the paid tax, so you should not have to pay usage tax when you register the paperwork in your home state. Except in very rare cases, you are supposed to
get a tax credit upon registration and you shouldn't have to pay tax twice. Alot of people don't understand this and are scared off by the Kentucky sales tax, yet they're going to have to pay that same amount one way
or another, but not twice. This is not my money that I'm collecting so I can't be haggled out of it. Some Kentucky farmers have asked if they can get out of paying tax since they will use it for farm use, and the answer is: only if you provide a legit farm exemption tax ID AND if it's a gooseneck. Any bumper pull trailer is taxable to everyone in Kentucky.
