For as long as I can remember, I’ve been crafting. Mom taught me to crochet when I was around six and I started making her tons of potholders. I guess she needed some variation because she suggested I learn knitting too. Little wooden needles, sitting next to her on the couch, it was a slice of heaven. Soon I was crocheting and knitting myself clothes and designing halters, vests, and hats. My friends at school weren’t too interested, but their Mom’s wanted lessons. So by third grade, I was teaching them to crochet scarves and afghans.
Since then I’ve just been consumed with crafts! I’ve tried just about everything, tole painting, oil painting, cross stitching, macramé, needlepoint, ceramics, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. I’m not a master at any, but proficient enough to be dangerous! Sewing, ah sewing, no matter how hard I try, ;-)….Family joke - will it come back out of the washer in pieces again or not? (I tried making curtains once and when they were laundered, they came back out in pieces, unsewn again. Voila, magic.)
For a good ten years I ran my own cottage business making items for consignment shops and craft fairs. It paid for many a riding lesson or horse show for my horse-crazy girls! Mine was an eclectic mix of dried florals, wreaths, tole painted items, oils on sawblades, cross stitch covered photo albums (lots of custom wedding work) and music boxes.
Now I’m content here on eBay selling craft books to some wonderful buyers. For the most part, people are just absolutely wonderful (you know who you are) and then there are the few that no matter how hard you try, you just can’t please (and you know who you are too, ;-( ).
