Using the antique art of crochet Doilies were originally crocheted with thread and used to protect table and dresser tops, and gained popularity in the Victorian Era, when women hand worked them in their spare time to add a little elegance to their households. At one time, these items were considered so important that a young lady was expected to have at least 10 to be ready for marriage, and these were carefully stored in a hope chest to be used when she set up her household. This doily is constructed of #10 crochet thread. As in all items of this nature, many hours go into the construction of the item, and each stitch is done by hand, as there is no machinery which can accurately do this work.
THESE DOILIES WERE HANDMADE BY ME ... I LEARNED TO CROCHET FROM MY GRANDMOTHER WHEN I WAS 8 AND HAVE BEEN CROCHETING EVER SINCE . I FIND IT TO BE VERY RELAXING. THESE WOULD MAKE THE PERFECT ACCENT TO A PEICE OF ANTIQUE FURNATURE, AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DISPLAYED AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY.

CHENILLE'S
Olefin is a new Space Age Synthetic which keeps you Warm in the Winter and Cool in the Summer. It is used in Sports Clothes because it Wicks away Moisture and is Stain Resistent. Best of all it does not BURN, it flames at point of contact, melts and then stops. Wonderful for Children's Sweaters ... Also olefin is one of the the cheaper chenilles, it sometimes seems hard to work with and sheds but once thrown into a low heat setting dryer for a little while there is a locking core that sets the chenille and brings out it's softness
