| What is Autism?
Autism is a developmental disability that generally appears between the ages of 15 and 32 months of age, In most cases, but can be also be found in children anywhere from a year and a half to three years of age, the child is progressing normally, and then begins to regress, losing speech, social skills and physical abilities, or just never developes them. While there are varying degrees of severity, most children completely withdraw into a world of their own.
Children do not outgrow autism. There is no cure. It is a lifelong disability with a normal life expectancy. It affects boys five times more than it affects girls, although girls are generally more severely affected.
They can improve drastically though, through early intervention therapies, diets, chelation, and many more methods.
Never give up you are not alone!
In the United States over one million individuals live with autism, making it more prevalent than Down Syndrome, childhood diabetes, and childhood cancer combined. We must spread the word, and educate many!
Autism: 10 Years ago 1 in 10,000 5 years ago 1 in 500 TODAY - 1 in 150 Children!
Autism research is being done, and is ever changing, you would be surprised to know, how many people around you are affected by Autism if you took the time to stop and talk about it.
We have never been a parents who has shyed away from this disability, since we found out Joshua was Autisic when he was 3 yrs of age, I went full force into books, videos, theapies, anything I could get my hands on, by that same token not all are affected this way, some just are lost at the sound that their "baby" their own special child could/does have a disability (in my opinion this is normal, it is called SHOCK) my own family members acted as if Joshua had died!
So please have a heart and try to educate yourself in this area so you can be an encouragment to those around you.
I say... Let's start acting on and talking to one another not waste anytime on coulda, woulda, or shoulda's and get the word out there on Autism, so these children/Adults do not have to live with ... on top of their disability... to peoples constant scrutany on why they are acting the way they are acting.
