Hello from Arizona, where I mostly gather paper items from estate sales. I like booklets and pamphlets on historic sites, parks etc.. as well as postcards, playing cards and similar items that can be used in the classrom. They're inexpensive, small, unbreakeable and can be given to students. I can often connect multiple items, such as a stock certificate from Phelps-Dodge mining co. that shows the Morenci (AZ) mine on it, with a similar postcard. Students can research this stuff. Question for you teachers out there: How many US Capital cities are named for US Presidents? (Watch it now!) My own collection in paper is from ME and NM, and until I go to a postcard show, I think I have a lot; then see how much there is to gather.
