Robert Currier

   I have been blowing glass for eleven years.  I discovered glassblowing while at Franklin Pierce College University in New Hampshire, and graduated with a Bacher of Arts degree in 2001.  My passion for glassblowing stuck with me.  I have apprenticed for many glassblowers and have completed multiple workshops with masters from all over the world.  During the summer of 2005, I studied glassblowing at Abate Zanetti, a glass school in Murano, Italy.  My time there was amazing, and no words can describe how special I feel about the local community.  Walking back to school after a lunch break, I was introduced to Alfredo Barbini, the oldest (and best) glass master in the world!  (He was ninety four at the time) He was a tiny man, with lively eyes and strong hands!  Just having shaken his hand and listening to him speak, I am the luckiest person in the world and was truly honored and humbled by the whole experience.

     My glass is represented in some galleries throughout the U.S., but my house could be a museum!  Ebay is my invitation to you all to take a walk into my house and if you see something you like, you may buy it!  Ebay is an instant way to show my work, while otherwise it remains either in my house or at some galleries that you all may never get a chance to visit.  Beautiful pieces of glass that people could appreciate if they could only see them.

   I have been working hard for eleven years learning technique.  It is my true passion and has taken me on an incredible journey so far.  I enjoy working with my hands and the processes involved in shaping the glass with heat, gravity, a breath, and various tools.  I have remained a dedicated glassblower because it is my passion.  There is much to learn from the material, and I'm learning new things all the time.  It reminds me to slow down, it raises my awareness, and demands all of my attention.  To me, glass has always been a beautiful and mesmerizing material to work with.  However, if you do not respect the nature of the material, it fights you, and you fight it back!  Eventually, you may come to an agreement with the glass, and this is represented by the final piece.
