I had worked in the retail business for quite a while and also worked in a dollhouse shop painting dollhouses as well as finishing the rooms with scale wallpaper, flooring, carpet, trim, etc. My favorite thing to do was to create interesting window displays and watch people's faces as they stopped to look at the little people living in a miniature world through the glass. I always enjoyed coming up with new ideas for my scenes. Some would make you laugh to see and others might make one a bit sad. In any event, it was always exciting to create a new story with each small scale scene. After a while, I had decided I wanted very much to start my own business that would specialize in handcrafted miniature accessories, porcelain dollhouse dolls and small scenes with a theme behind each project. I currently have more than a dozen different projects that I am working on to be completed by late fall. The bears came along shortly after Dollhouse Domain was created and the incorporation of the miniature teddies with the small miniature landscapes and furnishings became a wonderful way for me to create such interesting displays for collectors of not only dollhouse miniatures, but also artist-designed bears. I decided to rent a small retail space and decided after a couple of months to change the name from Dollhouse Domain to Dollhouse Domain's LITTLE COTTAGE GIFT SHOP. The change developed from the expansion of my products which had gone from only offering dollhouse miniatures and bears to slowly including accessories for the home, new baby gifts, holiday decorations and handmade cloth dolls. I found the name, "Little Cottage Gift Shop," to be perfect since the space is so tiny and looks just like a cute little cottage for little dolls and bears to inhabit! I wish to thank all of my customers and those of you who have sent inquiries about the shop and have taken a moment to stop in to visit the website www.DollhouseDomain.com. The website has been a wonderful way to reach people all over the world. I have developed a website which I hope you find fun to browse and easy to shop.
