Hi, I'm Dave, the D in d for diecasts.

I cant believe i'm now 40 years old and for about 36 of them years i've been collecting small scale model cars. i've ran out of space to display them all and loads are packed away in boxes. i started painting my cars when i was about 7. i always like to add a bit of extra detail and make them look more realistic. for about the last 5 years i've started to modify them too and have made some superb creations that can be seen on my website. i'm always on the lookout for cars at car boot sales, toy fairs, ebay and my good friends i've made off here. i love finding rare and unusual cars and restoring them and making them look better then before.

i've got a cracking set up at home now. i strip and respray cars in my garage and then detail and modify cars in my caravan on my drive. i call the caravan my retreat and i find it really relaxing to just clear off in there for an hour or two. future plans are to create a large room in my loft so i can unpack all my cars and put them on display up there, there must be thousands of them by now. luckily i have a big loft.

As you can see by the pics, i've also had a go at customising real cars too. i did up this mk2 polo years ago and it was my pride and joy. it was called volksonic and had custom paint, window tints, lowered front end, custom interior and more. it was a regular at long marston raceway and some custom shows in the late 80's and early 90's. does anyone know where YPB 301Y is now? i've also done some work on 2 beetles and loads of motorbikes but nothing ever came close to the amount of work i put into sonic. i'd also love to know what happened to vw beetle 1303 reg no: JJW 481N. aka herman the german beetle.
