My Frameguy
ABOUT US…
When I had this idea to break away from working for “the other guy” back in 1984-85, I researched the Ben Franklin Store Franchise program. In 1986, my wife and I opened a Ben Franklin (combination variety and craft store) in West Monroe, LA. My background was with a locally based Discount Chain, Howard Brand Discount and prior to that, with F W Woolworth Co. Between these two companies, I spent 30 years working from the ground floor up to management.
My wife and I operated our Ben Franklin Store for 12 years. Then, closing it due to slowing business we opened a gift store and custom frame shop in 1998, in Monroe, LA. Being personally involved in all aspects of the retail business since 1956, I of course was more interested in some areas more than others. We focused ourselves in these areas of interest. I had been very involved in the custom framing department at our Ben Franklin Store so when we opened our Variety Plus Gifts store I handled most of the framing. I like to create and design unique finished, framed and matted products for the retail marketplace at a value perceived price point that incorporated good workmanship and an individual touch. Then, in 2008 as we are slowing down some and should be getting ready to practice on retirement. We have found that many of our past storefront framing customers asked that we consider continuing our framing business, so here we are still working. Through the years so many of our friends and customers alike would call our store asking to speak to the “Frameguy” Thus, came the name “My Frameguy”.
