Daoinemaithe is my ebay user name and it raises a lot of questions. The condensed "Reader's Digest" version: I am a fan of many things but one interest dear to my heart is celtic folklore. The "daoine maithe" were known as "the good people". Daoine is gaelic and is, according to W. B. Yeats, pronounced "deenee". I have a growing collection of myths, legends, and celtic knots.I have begun painting watercolor and acryllic celtic knots in addition to my standard fair of Family Name Coats of Arms.
I was trained in the art of heraldry by a local woman (my mother-in-law) who was, in turned, trained by her mother, making me the (unofficial and not technically speaking) 3rd generation of heraldic artists in my local area. Working with this very talented craftslady has taught me many things and afforded me access to one of the largest collections of heraldic armorial documentation on this end of the state of Virginia. With my love of history and legend, heraldry and I seem to be a perfect dovetail. That being said, I have decided it is time to put myself out into the world and find a niche for my artistic offerings.
By profession,I am a public school teacher from a very rural area. Ebay is a lifesaver because I haven't the local access to many things I can readily find on line. Needless to say E-bay is much easier on the pocket book than retail shopping, which I haven't the patience or stamina for, and with a teacher's budget...need I say more? I have found so many things here for myself and even though my only daughter is now nearly 21 and out on her own, being all independent-like, she still appreciates getting that occasional care package from the mom!
I have met some wonderful people on eBay in the time I've been buying and selling. I hope that everyone who comes away from a transaction with me will take at least some small good thing with them to share with the next person they meet along the way. Be careful though! Treating people well can prove to be highly contagious! At least I certainly hope so! I believe in working hard to make all interactions pleasant and hopefully worth repeating! I look forward to seeing you on eBay and greeting you with a smile! :-)
