A little about me:
Greetings from the far north state of Alaska. My name is Darlene Hallback and I live in Anchorage, the largest city in the state. In the summer we have almost 24 hours of sunlight but in the winter it doesn't start getting light until around 10am and then it starts getting dark again around 3pm. Even though I was born in the second largest state (Texas), I've lived in Alaska for forever. I was here for the great earthquake in 1964--one of the strongest shakes in the world--and I've gone through a couple of volcano eruptions.
When I was growing up, Alaska was quite a bit isolated from the rest of the United States. We didn't have television right away and when it did start, it was on a 2 week delay--had to allow time for the tape to be air freighted here. So from an early age I have read various types of books as a way to entertain myself.
I've always been a voracious reader. I hate to waste anything so I would pass on my finished books to various people. Then I discovered eBay. This is a way to pass on my books to people all over the world and get some extra money to buy more books! This has been so much fun that I have branched out a little since I first started selling back in January, 2005 and opened up an eBay store in October, 2006.
My way of doing business:
I'm the type of person that once I decide that I must absolutely have a certain book, I usually go out and buy it. I assume everybody else is as impatient as I am, so my goal is to ship your purchase to you ASAP. As soon as you pay, I package and ship. But my Terms of Sale allow for shipping to be done within 3 days so holidays or weekend time is covered.
The quoted shipping and handling charges for any item that I have up for sale are designed to cover my expenses. But sometimes I goof in estimating the postage on an item. If my mistake's in your favor, I'll return any excess monies. I see no reason for you to pay for my screw-up. I pretty much try to treat everybody the way I would like to be treated: in a friendly yet professional manner.

Then there are the various doodads and thingamajigs that I think you'll find very interesting and even sometimes, very unusual. I'm in the process of downsizing and I've decided to let some of my treasures go to new homes. I'm also a bargain hunter and if I come across an especially good buy, I'll purchase several. As a result, I'm constantly adding items to my store inventory. This is the place to shop for both new and gently used items.

Fine Print: Important Information for Bidders
Terms:
My goal is to have your purchase of any item to be a pleasant and rewarding experience. But to protect my investment in any item up for sale, I find it necessary to have a few rules. I don't take bids from buyers with a negative feedback score of -1 or lower OR buyers who have received 2 unpaid strikes in the last 30 days.
Paying:
Payment must be received within 3 days of the close of a sale. I prefer PayPal and I also accept money orders or cashiers checks (US only). If I don't hear from you or receive notification of payment within this time period, you will be considered a non-paying bidder and will lose all rights to this item. Appropriate action will be taken under eBay's NPB policy.
I make every effort to describe things as accurately and honestly as possible. The sale is final, no refunds or returns unless something is grossly misrepresented. I package very carefully to protect merchandise against damage during shipping. If the insurance option is not chosen by you, I will not be responsible for lost, damaged or undeliverable merchandise.
If you have questions about any part of a sale, please contact me before purchasing.
Feedback:
Feedback is an important aspect of either the buying or selling decision. Everybody has the option to leave feedback or not on a transaction. I consider it very important and will always leave feedback for you after you leave feedback for me.
But sometimes things get messed up regardless of every precaution taken. If for some reason there's a problem with your order, please contact me so I can do whatever's necessary to make things right!
Shipping:
(North America) You'll receive an e-mail notifying you when you're the purchaser of an item. Shipping and handling are paid by the buyer and in most cases, you do have the option of purchasing insurance to further protect your investment in this item. You can choose to have your purchase sent by First Class/Priority Mail, which takes approximately 3 - 5 days OR Parcel Post/Media Mail, which takes approximately 5 - 21 days.
(International) You will be able to choose between having your merchandise shipped via International Priority or International Airmail. I will ship via M-Bags on large book orders. All items sent internationally will include a customs form. Buyer will be responsible for any taxes or duty owed. The amount of time before delivery will vary.
I'll mail your package to you within 3 business days after funds have been received. And in most instances, I'll send you an e-mail with a tracking number. This will allow you to check the progress of your package on the internet or through your PayPal account. I can't be responsible for anything that happens after it leaves my control, but if a problem with the Post Office does occur I will assist in filing a claim.
Returns:
Returns will be accepted up to 5 days after you receive your purchase BUT only if it's found that the merchandise is defective or not as advertised. A refund will be given in the same form as payment received. Original shipping charges are non-refundable. You are responsible for any return shipping charges. Please e-mail me prior to returning your item.
Just check out my other items for sale. I offer a discount on the total shipping when two or more items are purchased. In order to qualify for the discounted shipping, all items must be packaged in the same box and all purchases must be finalized within 3 days of the first purchase.
