Why buy from me
About me!!!
Hello!! I doubt many will be seeing this
page, but thank you for visiting! I get quite a few questions from people asking
me what I do, where I get these games, etc. So here's the story!
I used to be a game operator in
Knoxville, TN. While in the business, I got to know a lot of other operators,
distributors, etc. A lot of the time, they will update their machines or lose a
location, and want to sell their games. Most prefer NOT to sell on eBay, as they
have enough to worry about just keeping their locations happy. So they sell them
to me. When I originally made this page, this was a part time job for me,
but for the last year, Megatouches have been a full time job! I sell a
couple games a week on eBay, as well as my direct sales. I also do repairs
for a dozen or so operators around the SouthEast, so I stay pretty
busy. But I love these games, so I'll probably be selling them here as long as
people are still buying them!
Why buy from me? Here's why....
When do you think the last time that most of
the games sold (by others) on eBay looked like this? Probably the day it
was assembled in the factory. Since then, it's collected pounds of dust,
small amounts of corrosion have formed on the electrical connectors, and the
fans have probably died.
EVERY GAME THAT I SELL gets an "off
frame restoration" (as pictured above). If you purchase a game from
me, it has looked like the above picture within the last few weeks. I put
a lot
of time, effort, and energy into every game that I sell, and I take pride in
every game that I sell.
So what's the big deal?
Most Megatouch games that you will see listed on eBay have spent most of their life in a
bar or restaurant. And many of them show that by the condition that they are in. Lot's of people will just pull them out of a bar and list them on eBay.
The problem with this is that there is no telling what problems the game may have that the owner doesn't know about.
Also, many times they are in physically poor condition. However, the operator has made his money, and he just wants to get
the game out of his way.
The games that I sell are NOT like this. If you purchase a game from me, you
will be getting a machine that is as close to new as possible. In every game that I sell, you can rest assured that your game works now, will work when you get it, and will continue to work for years to come.
When I get a game, the first thing I do is take everything apart. Megatouch games are very similar to Vacuum cleaners in that they suck in a lot of dust, smoke, grime, etc, but they don't spit it out.
Therefore, one of these games that has been on a location for a year or 2 can have dust bunnies the size of
your fist trapped in them.
After the game has been disassembled, I clean the inside of the game.
Next, I go through the game boards. I check the fans to ensure that they are
functioning properly, and if they are not, they get replaced. I clean the gold plated connectors, as they can
have small amounts of corrosion, and cause problems on down the line. If
the game is CD Rom based, I install a BRAND NEW CD rom drive, so that there is
one less potential problem for the new owner of the machine. Next, I
perform a factory reset on the disk drive, as well as clear the memory.
Since the game may have problems that the operator doesn't know about, doing
this will ensure that the game is operating properly. And quite
frequently, I update the software. After I finish the cleaning/hardware
verification of the inside of the game, I will generally start the reassembly.
Most of the time, the cabinet needs something. It always gets new
T-Molding. Sometimes, it will just get
a good cleaning, but more often than not, the old side art is removed. If
the cabinet isn't in good shape, it will get brand new, professionally-made
sides. Then, after
everything has been cleaned, checked, and put back together, I will make final
adjustments to the monitor, calibrate the touchscreen, and install new side art
(if needed).
From this point, I generally leave the game
powered on for 24 to 48 hours to make sure that there aren't any problems
with random lockups, or maybe something that I didn't catch before. Then,
the game gets packaged, boxed, and ready to ship. This process usually
takes between 10 and 25 hours, depending on the game, and what is done to
it.
Now, you may find another game that sells
for cheaper than mine, but you will not find one that has been given as much
attention to detail as mine have. I love these games, I love what I do,
and I can still sit down in front of one and play for hours. I have nearly
all the parts available for these, as well as provide tech support for as long
as you'd like (and even past then). I have quite a few repeat buyers (as
well as bidders), and they have come to know that when they purchase from me,
they will be getting a great game, in great condition, that works, and will
continue to work for a long time to come. Look at my feedback. Look
at my auctions. Even ask some of the previous high bidders of my machines
what they think about me. I work to make every transaction go as smoothly
as possible, and help my bidders out in every way that I can. I've done
this many many many times! I am experienced and have literally gone
through hundreds of countertop games. I will guarantee that if you buy
from me, I will not let you down.
