My company, Davenport Designs was born in 1993.I closed my brick and mortar store about 3 years ago in downtown Savannah, GA. and have been selling on ebay since 1995. I have been a Registered Nurse for 29 years and returned to the world of nursing 3 years ago and work full time as a Hospice RN. I truly love my job and selling on ebay. My favorite hobbies are spending time with my four dogs: Sadie-my Coon hound that I rescued about 2 years ago(was near death when I found her-she is fat and Sassy now) Scout, my German Shepherd that I rescued from the shelter a day before he was scheduled to be euthanised and Dee Dee(Davenport Designs mascot)-my boxer mix that I rescued from a shelter November of 2005 Suzy-a little red chow mix who was left with my son September 2006 and thwe owner never returned to pick her up. We enjoy the wonderful weather in Savannah-lots of shrimping, boating and spending time at the beach when time allows. I also assist in some of the local shelters for homeless animals. I started my ebay store in March 2005. Ebay has allowed me to "meet" many new friends-literally from all around the world. As you can tell by alot of my products, I have a passion and deep love for animals. My dream is one day to hit the lottery and adopt every animal possible& in need or at least be able to provide them with wonderful safe homes and companions. My deepest sadness& was and is when hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast. My hope for the world is that everyone that could help at least one homeless animal in some way. My biggest loss in 2005 was my sweet boxer mix, Hope, who crossed The Rainbow Bridge September 28th at the age of 15. I found her on an old dirt road in Macon, Georgia ,August 1990. she was almost dead and was trying to eat rocks when I discovered her on the side of that old dirt road. Her favorite meal during her adult life was steamed shimp, so she had a pretty terrific life and she blessed me in so many ways.I will always be grateful that we were able to share the dance of life together and for 15 years.Enough about me-Happy EBAYing to all the buyers and sellers and may everyone have a wonderful year!!!!!! My job is to assist God's creatures.
I was born with the drive to fulfill their needs.
I take in helpless, unwanted, homeless creatures
without planning or selection.
I have bought dog food with my last dime.
I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand.
I have hugged someone vicious and afraid.
I have fallen in love a thousand times.
And I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body
too many times to count.
I have Animal Friends and friends who have animal friends.
I don't often use the word "pet".
I notice those lost at the road side
and my heart aches.
I will hand raise a field mouse
and make friends with a vulture.
I know of no creature unworthy of my time.
I want to live forever if there aren't animals in Heaven,
but I believe there are.
Why would God make something so perfect
and leave it behind?
Some may think we are masters of the animals,
but the animals have mastered themselves...
something people still haven't learned.
War and abuse make me hurt for the world,
but a rescue that makes the news gives me hope for mankind.
We are a quiet but determined army
and we are making a difference every day.
There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan,
nothing more rewarding than saving a life,
no higher recognition than watching them thrive.
There is no greater joy than seeing a baby play
who, only days ago, was too weak to eat.
By the love of those who I've been privileged to rescue,
I have been rescued.
I know what true unconditional love really is,
for I've seen it shining in the eyes of so many,
grateful for so little.
I am an Animal Rescuer.
My work is never done.
My home is never quiet.
My wallet is always empty,
but my heart is always full.
