My name is Dax Anthony and I am a three year old pug. I live with my mom, dad, brother and sister in Staten Island.
Daxie Boy Toys was created to alleviate the financial pressures that I caused my parents. I have undergone several surgeries since I was 6 months old. At 6 months my vet told me that I had a Liver Shunt which means that I did not have proper use of my liver. After the several days it took to get me stable the vet performed a procedure which cost approximately $5,000.
Three months later, I went in for a check up because I was limping. This is when I found out that I had Necrosis of my right hip. This is a disease that eats away at your bones. When I was brought in for surgery I found out that they do not make hip replacements for puppies as small as I am. The vet was going to cut off the top of my femer and then I would have to undergo several months of physical theray in order to rebuild my muscles and ligaments to make a false hip joint.
A month after my surgery, while I was completing physical therapy, I found out that the disease was in my other hip. So I went in for my third surgery before I even turned a year old.
There have been several other little surgeries in between and now I have cost my parents approximately $25,000. I am now three years old and happy as can be.
