Painter and Fiber Artist Brenda Haddix me Hi everyone! My name is Brenda Haddix. I'm a self taught artist and I live here in West Virginia with my husband and two children. My hobbies are painting, drawing and crocheting. I've been crocheting for over 33 years and painting and drawing ever since I can remember. My favorite subjects to paint are North American wildlife. I sell art here locally and also on ebay. Right now I'm selling crocheted ponchos and creating small drawings and paintings. I used to sell my ponchos just locally but I decided to give ebay a try and I've sold several on line. Art for me is a creative outlet and also a good stress reliever! I'm constantly thinking of new ideas for paintings and crocheted garments. I'm interested in many art forms but had to narrow it down to painting and crochet. My house isn't big enough to store all the equipment I'd need for all my interests! Like the old saying goes, if you head out in too many directions you end up going nowhere. I must admit I'm a big yarnoholic. When I go into a craft shop or search on ebay and I see all that colorful yarn I go bananas! My art studio looks like a yarn warehouse. But hey, just like a mechanic needs his wrenches, yarn is my tool and you can't do the job without the right tools. Am I right? Sure I am! I think I'm just trying to justify my infatuation with yarn, but that's OK. Everything I crochet is created one stitch at a time by hand, no machine is used. But if they ever invent a crochet machine I'll be first in line for that! It takes me about a week to complete an adult size poncho. On the painting side, I've been working on some ACEO projects, the little art card paintings that measure 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. I'm practicing on some and will be listing a few for sale in the future. I've never painted anything that small and I must admit that it's harder than it looks! Right at the moment I am working on some slightly larger colored pencil sketches of mermaids and will be listing those soon also. Well I have to get back to work.
