Hi der', I am an up nort' Wisconsin Wild Turkey fanatic. I have always wanted to be a Turkey Hunter since viewing an episode of the Walton's Thanksgiving episode. Now.... finally, we can hunt this majestic Bird in Wisconsin. As soon as I began Turkey hunting I lost control, began to collect Turkey calls, and related items. I credit Marlin Mueller, my barber, and the NWTF for my TOTAL involvement in both turkey hunting and collecting turkey calls. My first Turkey call was purchased in 1995 at a NWTF Banquet. This was a masterpiece of Eugene Upward. Then I contacted Parker Whedon for a "Spirit Yelper" wing bone. I then contacted Howard Harlan and Earl Michel and since getting their books, my interest in turkey calls exploded. Recently I began to downsize my Turkey Call collection from over 5000 calls. We moved to our Retirement Log home in Northern Wisconsin and do not have room to display my copllection as I was before. Sad me, Lucky you. I am selling most of my calls on ebay. My Nickname "DA' YANKEE GOBBLER" was given to me by the legendary Neil Cost. The most fulfilling experiences for me are meeting all the fine legendary call makers, callers and hunter's. This has been an experience that makes my call collecting very rewarding and fulfilling. I have learned so much from the likes of Neil, Wayne Bailey, Earl Mickel, Gene Upward, Billy Buice, Steve Mann, Hunter and Steve Turpin, DA one and only Dave Tyree, Irving Whitt, Harry Blodgett, Peck Martin, Bill Emery, Cecil Fry .......and the list is endless and priceless. I have yet to find a Turkey call maker who is NOT a TRUE, dedicated, enthusiastic BUDDY. I recently retired as The Custom Decorative Call Competition Chairman at the NWTF Grand Nationals and Chairman of the NWTF Midwest Nationals. That experience encouraged my desire even more to be more knowledgable and share my appreciation of Custom Calls. Wild Turkey Hunting indeed is and will always be a heartfelt, steadfast experience that will always provide both a Spiritual experience and bring you closer to OUR CREATER.
