They come and they go!
I see lots of sellers (ie: competition) come and go. Most don't know what they're talking about, most don't know what they're even selling.. they're just out for a quick buck. Soon i'll post some more info here from an expert in the field. Dispell some myths, and provide some FACTS and realities... I'm going to tell you WHAT IS US market product, and what is NOT. There are lots of auctions and listings out there that are flat out WRONG.
YOU NEED TO BE INFORMED !!
There is lots of tape out there. Tape for USA Market, and tape for overseals/european markets. Lots of sellers try to pass off "out of market" or "foreign market" goods as product for US market! Why is this important ? Foreign market tape is generally older stock (so they can sell for cheaper) - hence being around longer - and travellend farther, and in unknown conditions. We all know tape (MiniDV especially @ 6mm) can be affected by conditions as such.
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHICH MARKET A TAPE IS FROM?
Genreally, go to the manufacture USA website to confirm this fact!!!
Currently, these are the US Market MiniDV:
From Sony:
Standard/Premium grade: DVM60PRL - BLUE wrapper (replaced the DVM60PR2 (red))

Excellence/HIGH grade: DVM60EXL - PURPLE wrapper (replaced the DVM60EX2)

THIS IS THE CURRENT US MARKET TAPE. "PRL" - BLUE WRAPPER.
THERE IS A REASON YOU ONLY SEE DVM60PRL (blue) on SONY USA and SONYSTYLE - because this is the CURRENT US TAPE.
From Panasonic:
Standard/Linear Plus grade: AY-DVM60EJ, DVM-60EJ. (used to be black/green wrapper, now silver/blue wrapper)
THIS IS THE CURRENT PANASONIC USA "LINEAR PLUS" GRADE TAPE IN ITS NEWEST FORM AND NEWEST OUTER WRAPPER
From JVC:
Standard grade: M-DV60DU, M-DV60ME (same tape, used to be green/blue wrapper, now GOLD/BLUE wrapper)
THIS IS THE CURRENT JVC USA tape. (both US market tape, only recently updated packaging from JVC America.

THE TRUTH and LIES:
Sony DVM60PR3 (yellow/orange wrapper) is NOT a US MARKET TAPE.
THIS IS NOT A US MARKET TAPE!
There is a reason you do not find this on SONY USA website, and you DO find it on Sony european, and overseas websites (such as france, italy, sweeden, middle-east, africa, etc):

Because it's NOT new, and NOT intended for US market. It's been around for years, and sold for those markets!
No matter what someone tries to tell you, THIS tape above is NOT US Market tape, it is NOT TRUE. Why do they want you to believe it is ? So it would command a higher $. We all know US market goods command higher dollar.
Out of market and foreign market tape WILL still work with USA/North America camcorders, i'm just giving you the fact of where it is sold!

I complete hundreds a week usually with no problems - obviously I would not intentionally not reply to someone (as i've been falsly accused of) think about it - Why would I do that?? I have absolutely NO reason to not reply to someone... with HIGHER than 99.9% feedback rating!!
*** 10/01/04 - some @aol users are claiming to not get my emails. I have tried to send from 3 different email addresses, as well as thru the eBay email system if this is the case. IF you claim you havn't received any emails from me, best thing would be to provide a contact telephone # or a secondary email address - send that info thru eBay email system. Other than that - there is nothing more I can do. I have tried everything to get in contact with these few users who are accusing me of not replying.. ridiculous
