I'm from the beautiful and friendly state of Missouri, though I am now an Illinois transplant. I live across the Mississippi River from St. Louis in a small but charming and historical farming community in Illinois that is considered part of the St. Louis metro-east area. I have always had a deep love and fascination for jewelry of all kinds: old, new, fine, or costume. I began beading and making jewelry from special patterns I came across. Gradually, my own original designs began to emerge and take form. I began to sell them in my local area at various consignment shops and through satisfied customers. I also wear my jewelry nearly everywhere I go and am prepared to hand out my business card when I receive a compliment on a piece I happen to be wearing. I've always been involved with various art forms, so it is only natural that my love for art and my love for jewelry would eventually intertwine. Gradually, I honed in on buttons. I found out that I absolutely love buttons!! I buy jars, bags, cards, etc., etc., at every antique store I can find because I love to go through them. Every jar holds a surprise! Buttons are an art form unto themselves. Not only are they historic, they are fascinating in their design, shape, color, texture, possibility in jewelry design, and overall appeal. I now have a button room for which I receive much teasing! I have always taken an interest in all craft forms and dabbled in each of them: crochet, macrame, embroidery, cross stitch, sketching, painting, pastel, recently knitting, etc. My latest interest has returned to dolls, something I once loved working with when my girls were little. Now I have three grandchildren and friends with grandchildren and love to make dolls again. And I have discovered the charm and infatuation of the sock monkey! I made one for a dear friend and I was hooked! He looked up at me and there was no turning back! I have been making them ever since for anyone that says, "I want one!" ever since. I even have one over in Iraq in his camo uniform cheering up the soldiers. My grandkids sleep with theirs every night, passing up all of their fancier store bought stuffed toys for the humble little folk art sock monkey! This has led me to see the happiness these magical monkeys bring into people's lives. So now I am dedicating part of my time to creating these captivating little creatures for those who find themselves smiling when they see their cute little faces and say, "I want a sock monkey!"
