Greetings from lowly Bremerton, Washington. Not much happens out here, so it's a good idea to try and find some hobbies to occupy your time. One of mine is sportscards. If you're a local, you've run into me at one of the local shops or Seattle area shows. If you're not, you might have seen me at one of the Westminister Mall shows out in Denver-or at Tamarac Square in December. And if you're bidding on my stuff, remember that you all had a chance to buy it for less money at one of those shows. Now you have to bid on it like everyone else.
I stay up late often to do auctions. So sometimes when I'm feeling tired, you might see me put in quite a bit of social commentary about a particular player when describing a card. Especially when he's been really bad... Hopefully it won't drive anyone away from my auction, but even if it does, I'm having fun and hopefully you got a good laugh. And if you didn't, you're probably that player I just made fun of. Steroids, motorcycle riding and the now infamous whizzinator are all great topics to add to my descriptions.
I don't have a set schedule for auctions. And they may end at very strange times since I keep strange hours. But keep checking back since I have lots of items to offer. Since I sell stuff in a few different categories, it's probably better if you filter the listings down so you only get the categories you want.
Updates:
11/16/06
I'm going to start running less state revenue stamp auctions as I did last year in December. Other material is going to be mixed in along with the two hardest to find items of the year. The Sony Playstation 3 and the Elmo TMX. I am getting muliple shipments of the PS3, so I'll be running auctions until around the middle of December for anyone who wants one. As usual, I'm doing my 99 cent starting price on those.
Feel free to email me with any questions we might have. I am also available on Skype as deadgnat if you want do a VOIP thing.
About my auctions
Cards
I run auctions in my spare time or when I really don't feel like sleeping. It's overrated... Good service is a top priority. I try to give a good description of what you're bidding on. The picture you see is the exact card you're bidding on. I will not reuse scans if I have the same card up at another time. That way you know exactly what you're getting. I package everything really carefully-I know what it's like to get a damaged card, so I do everything possible to make sure your card gets to you in great shape. All cards are put in soft sleeves and toploaders, then sealed up in a team bag (no taping the toploader in case the card moves around and sticks to it) and then it's put in a bubble mailer. I do all my shipping labels on a computer so even the post office can read it. And I use lots of tape to make sure the bubble mailer won't get ripped open and the labels won't fall off. Almost every card will get mailed out the day after I receive payment. Sometimes the same day if you catch me at the right time. I always try to communicate as much as possible with my customers. I let them know when I've received payment and what day I mail their stuff so they know what's going on. After all, it's your hard earned money you're spending, so you have a right to know when you're stuff is getting mailed to you.
Stamps
The stamp section really seems to be taking off. I will do my best to keep starting all auctions at 99 cents. So far, I think only 2 stamps have not sold at that price out of a few hundred. My packaging for stamps is going to be different (and better) than what you're used to. I deal in cards, so in order to not carry more supplies, I use card supplies to ship stamps. That means penny sleeves (don't worry, PVC free archival stuff) and hard plastic toploaders. Most individual stamps get their own toploader-some lots have each stamp sleeved individually, but they will share space in a toploader provided there is room. Everything will be very well packed. There is an outer poly-bag for everything (I use archival comic book bags or team bags) and bubble mailers for all items. This provides a lot more protection than the standard #10 envelope with cardboard backing. There are certain instances when stamp panes or covers won't fit in the supplies that I have (toploaders up to 5x7), so I have to go the cardboard backing/polybag method with a bubble mailer. I'll let you know if that has to happen in the description. Some of my lots have a bunch of stamps-so if you can't see the pic that well to make out what's in there, just email me and a high resolution scan will be on it's way.
I've been getting quite a few questions lately. If I can't answer them, it's because I'm not a stamp collector or dealer. I had a borrowed brookman catalog, but I returned it, so now I just have a Nutmeg liquor auction catalog and nothing else. It's not much to go on, but it does seem to work out OK.
For stamps, you can combine for shipping discounts for up to 5 days. Just drop me an email to say you're doing it and do not fill out the ebay checkout form until you're done bidding. If you win more items, you will receive a new invoice at the end of that day's auctions. I update invoices once a day-you will only recieve a new one if you win an auction.
More info
I usually try to start my auctions at a low price. All of you card customers have been really great, so it's a general policy to start stuff at 99 cents. Some gaming will have buy it nows, but I try to avoid those.
I try to keep my shipping and handling costs low. It's not cheap for mailing supplies or gas to get to the post office, but I buy enough supplies in bulk to save you guys money. My current shipping charge is $2. I only charge 25 cents per additional item if you win more than one auction, so that's my way of saying thanks to any of you guys that win more than one auction. I also charge under market value for insurance-it's only $1 for up to $50 of coverage. The post office charges me more than that, but I eat the extra costs to encourage you to insure your items. I do trust the post office, but there's a reason I go to such great lengths to package your items so carefully.
I have just added shipping service to South America, Canada, Japan, Australia and Europe. Shipping outside North America is $3. Additional items are only 25 cents each. For anyone outside the US, the US Postal Service does not offer insurance for out of country addresses. They do have registered mail for secure delivery, but it costs an additional $8 minimum to do that. I also offer insurance thru U-pic at $2 per $100 of coverage for any shipments outside the US. Please email me if you wish to add on either of these services. Every item shipped in a bubble mailer or box internationally will have a customs form attatched. My local post office requires it. I do not mark the form "gift" as it requires a gift card to be considered a gift.
Unless I'm totally out of supplies or the cards are a strange size, I always try to use new toploaders and penny sleeves so you won't have to replace them. Bubble mailers are always new and unused. If you have a large order, then it will be boxed and padded well. And just as a means of protection, I pick packages at random to insure or get delivery confirmation at no extra cost to you. I do look at your feedback as well. If you win something and your feedback isn't stellar, you can bet I will spring for insurance and signature confirmation.
I do not take SASEs or personal checks. I do take cash and euros at buyer's risk, but I prefer that you send a money order or use paypal or bidpay instead. That way you have some means of protection. And please do not send postage. I do not accept postage as payment. I buy a lot of my postage in large quantities at well below market rate, so it does me no good to accept it at full face value.
As a seller, I want to encourage all buyers out there to keep your ebay info current. Please fill in your address properly and try not to do it all in lowercase. I import the info on your form to make your shipping labels, so try to be accurate. And any of you paying by paypal-please take the time to confirm your address. I went through the process as a seller. I ask that you do the same as a buyer, though I will ship to unconfirmed addresses if your feedback checks out. Good luck bidding on all my items. Thanks for looking at my auctions and wasting 5 minutes of your life that you won't get back reading all this. I hope it was all worth it.
