Who am I?

I am a former repair technician of Beihoff Music in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dean Sanford Music (formerly known as Sanford Music) has been a side business for over 20 years. As of January, 2007 I am expanding my side business to replace my employment at Beihoff Music.

What are my credentials?

I have Bachelor of Science in music education from Bob Jones University and a Master of Music in music education and supervision from Central Michigan University. Over 20 years have been spent in the classroom with over 20 of my students going on to major in music education or music performance. That not to my credit but to God grace. It is amazing what He can do through one person life.

What do those degrees and teaching have to do with repair?

Through out this time I gleaned expertise from Gary Ferree (from Ferree Tools), Alex Cory (repair tech for Lee Patrick and at least once for Sigurd Rascher), Brian Sargent, Scott Haywood, Mark Milligan and Wes Hatch (the last four at Beihoff Music). God used this input coupled with my teaching /performing to give me an artist repair perspective.

What is my repair goal?

I have a great interest in providing an instrument that the musician will able to play easily and well. Tuning, light touch, and mechanical efficiency are important aspects often overlooked in repair. So from changing a pad to the silver soldering of a broken key, it the details that count.
