The Art...
My style has been described as “soft realism,” because it combines the softness and play of light of the Impressionists with some of the detail of Realism. I use pastels, oils, acrylic, and sometimes watercolor and mixed media to express the beauty of the world around me. Whether I am painting a flower from my garden, the animals I love, or the sights I have seen while traveling, I hope to portray the spirit as well as the likeness of my subjects. Creating a mood, whether dramatic or peaceful and serene is an important part of my work. Through the years I have been privileged to paint hundreds of portraits -- both human and animal.
EBay has been a great way for me to meet and keep in touch with collectors from all over the world. Click on my website and my blog for more information and examples of my work -- cats, dogs, horses, portraits, florals and landscapes. The Artist...
Ever since receiving my first set of crayons, I have been in love with line, with color, and with the amazing things in the world around me. When I visited the Art Center as a child, I "discovered" a painting by William Hopper, and could think of nothing else for weeks. Other artists, such as Mary Cassatt, John Singer Sargent, and Edgar Degas continued to fan the flame of my passion for art. Although I graduated from Washington School of Art and attended other classes and workshops, the great masters will always be my favorite teachers.
I love animals of all kinds, and one of my greatest joys is combining my passion for art with my love of all of God's wonderful creatures. I am in awe of all creation, but especially the animals, so I never tire of painting them. Featured above, one of my signature white horses, White Arabian, pastel. Below, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a gorgeous dog, acrylic on panel 5 x 7; Red Fox in the Snow, acrylic on stretched canvas, 12 x 12; and Dinner Plate Pink Hibiscus, oil on stretched canvas, 18 x 18. All of these paintings have been sold. Be sure to check my eBay listings and my blog to view my newest work.
