My response to "Detailed Seller Ratings", excuse me while I hop on my soapbox ;-) ...
Item as described: I describe every one of my listings in more detail than I should. If there is the slightest mark, fold or imperfect anything, you will know about it. There are many sellers that call something "mint" when it is never the case. I actually lose sales for excessive detail. My feedback usually reflects a "better than expected" response. A buyer not reading the description is a completely different issue.
Communication: I encourage contacting me with any questions before bidding. I am online every day, and work from home, so it's very likely you will get a quick response. There is never lack of communication on my end. I'm here for you.
Shipping time: I ship every auction within 24 hours of cleared payment. In most cases, the same day. If something is intended to be shipped in a specific box, and you change that method, then I might need a day to find packaging to cater to your needs. But there is no possible way to make "Shipping time" any faster. If a buyer does not pay immediately, as noted, they become the lowest priority. Pay late. Ship late. Pay right away. Ship right away. Simple as that.
Shipping and handling charges: Unfortunately, there are many sellers who abuse these charges and inflate them. I offer free shipping on many items, but if I do charge, I am not the one charging. The only thing I do is pack the item, weigh it, and I input the weight with the auction listing. By clicking on the "Shipping and payments" tab on the auction page, you will always have three shipping options. The weight I input connects to the post office calculator and your zip code. (Try different zip codes to see the rates change) You see exactly what it costs at the post office. There are no hidden fees. If you have a problem with the postage costs (as I do!) then complain to the post office. I am not the post office, so no one can say I charge too much. It is what it is.
As you might be able to tell, I hate the rating system as it is seriously flawed. Anything less than 5 stars to me is a buyer that made a mistake or at fault. I can say that because I am not a store. As you can read with my feedback, I am a very friendly person, and go the extra mile to keep my feedback happy.
I joined eBay in 1998. It was awesome. I had so much fun buying and selling, and it was truly a community. Unfortunately, it has become a corporate mess of greed and scams. The fees are completely obnoxious and insulting to anyone wanting to sell anything. Buying has become a challenge since searching for something you want becomes a crap-shoot. The trust factor is gone with the community. Now filled with retailers and their overstock, and other scam artists, fraud and ridiculous spam. So, when I sell, I make sure it's easy, detailed and fun to receive. When I buy, I make sure they are not a business, and collect items sold by an enthusiast.
Ebay, the company is just overdeveloped, and never perfected. They always add unnecessary crap and features we don't need. Customer service in non-existent or outsourced, which is the same. I miss eBay. The real eBay. If you knew eBay a decade ago, you know what I mean. But I still like the concept and will try my best to sell and buy here and there in hopes that someday maybe someone at eBay will care about the reason they exist. Us.
