| It's all about the Art!
I've been a graphic and fine artist for 20 years, have a "significant other" and one almost grown child. I would describe myself as a self-taught fine artist, although I have attended college and received some refining. Have a varied background... Hungarian, German, Scottish, Cherokee and Hispanic (God knows what else)... a true American mix. Tend to be more spiritual than religious, and many of my works reflect that part of me.
Could go into all the blah, blah about my education, the shows I've been in, the societies I'm a part of, etc... but I think that all artist works are valid and it's not about their backgrounds so much as... do you love the art or not? Many artists forget that some of the world's most famous artists never sold a painting during their lifetime... or sold very few. It is always about the work, itself, and how it touches it's audience. If I can afford art I see and love.... it's mine! There are many, many talented people in this world who deserve recognition. And it is like a treasure hunt when I find them. I am happy some of my own work has sold. It makes you feel really good to have someone validate your work that way... but I focus on doing the work for it's own sake.... because I love to do it (No... I NEED TO DO IT). This seems a reoccurring theme with many artists... We start at a young age and just keep making pretties. And I support other artists by collecting their works, by encouraging them and offering support and honest critiques (when asked)... always reminding them that my opinion is just that, an opinion they can use or discard.
I often search in the self representing artists to add to my collection and to sell work.
My personal outlet is painting... angels, fantasy and people, because people are fascinating... and the occasional poem. Commissions are great, but it is much more satisfying capturing an rare, unguarded moment, and commiting that to canvas. Then have someone want it so I can buy some more supplies to paint some more. I am still learning new things everyday, which makes life a great adventure.
Love to collect little treasures.... pins of all kinds (especially sparkly) which I mount on the walls and hang all over my house... and I like the whimsical things in life. I also love rocks and crystals.... and am a complete ebay addict. SUCH A DEAL! My work reflects my little obessions... shiny and sparkly! Wheee!
You can see my work by visiting dia--t.com, which is periodically updated or just to say Hi!
Thanks for stopping by.
