Welcome to my About Me Page!
I have been a collector of Disneyana for over 25 years and it has been a wonderful and magical hobby that has truly kept me a child at heart.
As a child I had always hoped to one day work as an artist for the Walt Disney Studios.
Through the years my interests changed but my love and admiration for Walt Disney, Mickey and the Gang and the happiest place on earth Disneyland never did.
Its easy for me to remember when I first purchased my first Disney collectible. It was in 1978 during my senior year in high school and I was at Disneyland on November 18, 1978 celebrating Mickey Mouse's 50th Birthday with several friends, what a great time we had.
I truly began my serious Disney collecting in 1981 when I began my career in Law Enforcement and I was then able to afford much more wonderful and beautiful items.
I have always been involved in various charities especially during the holidays when I would help raise monies to provide food and toys to needy families.
And it was this that prompted me to host my first Disneyana Collectibles Show and Sale to Benefit needy families during the holidays.
This event was held at the Anaheim Convention Center in 1987 and Disneyland was kind enough to send Mickey Mouse himself to greet fans and help us give away lots of great Disney door prizes!
My very first invited Disney guests included the Magical Voice of Disney Jack Wagner whom I had met through the police department. Jack would do voice overs for our police training videos and later after visiting him at his studio did I come know that he was the Official Voice of Walt Disney's magic kingdoms and also did the voices for more than 25 Disney characters...amazing!
My other guests also included noted Disneyland Master Illustrator Charles Boyer whom a dear friend of mine that I met on my police route and worked at Disneyland was kind enough to ask Charles Boyer if he would could possibly joins for this special event and he also kindly accepted our invitation.
And through Senior Vice President of Walt Disney Imagineering Tony Baxter, another friend whom had went to the same high school that I did but years before, we also welcomed Disney Legend Sam McKim and Disney Author Bruce Gordon both who were on hand to pinch hit for Tony as he was unable to attend because he was due in Paris.
Since this first event I have continued to host Disneyana Fun Fairs three to four times a year and have welcomed many Disney artists, animators, character voice artists and Disney Imagineers.
Among our guests have been Academy Award winning sing writers Richard and Robert Sherman, X Atencio, Alice Davis, Rolly Crump, Bob Gurr, Sam McKim and Family, Blaine Gibson, Harriet Burns, Bill Justice, Tony Baxter, David Mumford, Bruce Gordon, Charles Boyer, Bill Farmer voice of Goofy, Jack Wagner, Phil Roman, Willie Ito, Floyd Norman, Ron Dias, Ruben Apodaca, Pete Alvarado, Lew Ott, Margaret kerry, Britt Lomond from Zorro, Tony Anselmo, Ray Aragon, Andreas Deja, Dave Fieten, Bob Foster, Teri Hardin, Paul Wenzel, and many, many more!
Through my knowledge in Disneyana I have also served as a purchasing representative for Tokyo Disneyland/Oriental Land Company where I assisted them in helping to find various Disney collectibles for their research library.
I have often been asked what is my favorite item in my Disney collection and I would say my figures from Twinton, but my true collectible is the wonderful memories of my father who helped build Disneyland and then went back to work on the new 1959 Tomorrowland.
I love the stories he would share with me about the long hours he would work and when he would see Walt walking around and sometimes talk to him.
Miss you Pop's!
