Just an old retired Dragon that likes to lie back in his lair and scope out bargains.
I am easy to get along with and do a great deal of collecting, i.e. watches, both pocket and wrist. Belt Buckles, Lead Crystal, Eagles, and art work.
I do not like sale auctions that send byers to a 3rd party Checkout. If you accept paypal, a seller should not go to a different checkout. I will not do that. My security of my personal information means more to me than a purchase on Ebay.
If a seller is honest and sells products as "new" the buyer has every right to expect the item to be new. New does not mean slightly used. It does not mean I bought it and used it once and didn't like it so I am pawning it off on some ebay sucker as a new item.
I had a seller sell me a "new" stethescope. I purchased it for a gift for a lady that had just graduated from nursing school. Well, the item came in a box that showed obvious wear, the internals in the box, the foam rubber padding, was not correct for the item, the manual was missing, and the ear tips had dried ear wax inside where it had obviously been worn.
I sent an email to the seller on Thursday. The following Thursday I had not recieved a reply I left a negative. Since I needed to get the gift mailed out of country, I had it refurbished at a local supply center, and shipped it to the friends with an explaination.
The very next day I got an email wanting me to change my negative. The seller claimed he had written me TWO emails offering a refund. (Not True) Told me to check my spam mailbox (no need, I do not use a spam mailbox, I review all mails and deside wether to open them or not.) I refused to change my negative and explained that the seller lied and did not warrent a change. What does the seller do? This less than honest seller left the following.
Offered full refund. He, kept item and gave me negative feedback! Thanks Dragon!
He did NOT offer a refund until AFTER I left a nedative. I could not do a return of item as I had to get the gift sent. I spent the money to have it refurbish (sterilized and replacement of ear pieces, polishing steel parts, and a new manual)
The whole point to this note is to remind people the "Buyer Beware" warning is still alive and well.
Also just remember that the very vast majority of sellers on Ebay have proven to be above reproach. I have had only one bad experience out of 135 purchases. The is a better record than I have had with WalMart, Sams Club, Macy's or other major retailers.
One bad apple does NOT spoil the barrel at Ebay.
