You're not still playing with dolls ... are you?

At your age...?
Hi, my name is Margaret and you would be surprised at how many seemingly intelligent people just can't understand why I have such a childish hobby. I find the history and technology of dolls fascinating. There have been many technological advances that found their first applications in dolls. Did you know that when Thomas Edison invented the phonograph, its first use was in a doll (a French Jumeau)?

But what happened to make you get into Barbies?
I started a family, and found I couldn't apply myself to the fine, time-consuming work involved in dressing an antique doll. I found that working with the 'Plastic Princess' was something I could fit into the odd few minutes I had spare during the day. That's how my hobby started, and it just grew from there. And anyway, I have always harboured a secret passion for ... SINDY!!! Apart from dolls, I also deal in science fiction books, the odd bit of pop memorabilia, vintage (and general) knitting and craftwork and antique and vintage Singer Sewing machines. Quite a mixture of interests, but I guess I am just a mixed up girl!!
