Information on Canon portable printers:
To get all the information you need about Canon Portable Printers, visit my $FR.EE website, listed at the bottom of this page under Favorite Websites. You may also download a copy of my $FR.EE document, "Canon Portable Printers - A Primer" which will introduce you to the Canon mobile printers and hopefully answer many of your questions!
Why you should buy your Canon BJC portable printer from me:
1. Unlike the majority of sellers on eBay selling Canon BJC portable printers, I check the waste ink absorber pads of every BJC system I sell. If they need to be replaced, they get replaced. Why? The number one cause of failure of these printers is a full waste ink system. Most of the Canon BJC portables on sale here on eBay are for sale because they have full or nearly full waste ink systems and the cost of shipping the unit to a certified Canon service center to have them replaced is prohibitively high. [On average, it takes me 1.5 hrs to replace the waste ink absorber system, thoroughly clean the printer's interior and replace whatever parts need to be replaced. Canon service centers can charge $85 or more PER HOUR.] Folks figure it is cheaper to sell their old printer & buy a replacement one. I buy those systems that are in otherwise excellent condition and replace the waste ink absorber pads myself (see the photo), then resell the systems on eBay for a small profit. How good a deal is that cheap printer you purchase here on eBay if it dies on you in 3 months, especially if you're on the road & desperately need it?
2. I sell CLEANED systems. Another major reason to purchase from me is that you get a thoroughly cleaned printer. If you saw some of the stuff (hair, dirt, body fluids, rat feces, food particles, etc.) that come out of some of these printers, you'd turn green. Basically, you don't know where these printers have been - often times they have been stored in reclamation centers, old offices, etc., and have been subject to vermin and who-knows-what! I thoroughly clean and disinfect every printer that comes in before it is sold to you so that you're not getting that medley of filth introduced to your home or office.
3. Experience. I have been refurbishing Canon portable printers for several years now, and know what needs to be done. Just look at my feedback profile as a seller & you'll see that folks are very pleased with the printers they get from me!
4. Honesty. I show you exactly what you're purchasing in my auction ads, and fully describe to the best of my ability what it is you're getting. I don't know how anyone would purchase a printer sight-unseen, yet there are plenty of auctions which don't show you the actual printer you're buying. I don't use stock photos (which are only good for brand new items) - each item I sell is individually photographed and described. Period. Again, look at my feedback profile to see that my customers are generally very happy campers!
5. SquareTrade. I am a member in good standing with SquareTrade, who independently offer extended warranties on my items. Visit the SquareTrade site & see what a seller must do in order to qualify as a SquareTrade partner.
Apple II Computers & Peripherals
Back in the 1980s, I was very active in the Apple II world. Some of you may recognize me as the author of the Vanilla Hard Drive and Vanilla Tape Drive articles for the DIYers. I also published programs with Nibble magazine, won a national programming contest with A+ Magazine, and served as a Contributing Editor for the Apple IIGS Buyers Guide, and ran the very successful Washington Towne Crier BBS for 9 years. I was founder & president of our local Apple II Users Group. Needless to say, I loved the Apple II!
In 2009, I got back to my roots and began refurbishing Apple II systems (Apple II+ IIe, IIc and IIGS). It amazes me how much you can do with an Apple II computer, whose RAM is measured in kilobytes or, for the IIGS, megabytes and whose software comes on disks measured in kilobytes, not gigabytes! The software, which is mostly abandoned & in the public domain, is freely available on the internet and much of it remains quite useful. It is not so surprising that "retro-computing" has become somewhat of a cottage industry.
I now clean, refurbish & resell Apple II computers & their peripherals. If you are interested, visit my eBay auctions or my web store (listed below).
Please note: I recently discovered that eBay has a policy against selling compilation disks of information and software gleaned from the web. As a result, I have ceased selling The Ultimate Apple II series of reference disks on eBay. You may purchase these disk sets via my webstore (link below) or by contacting me directly.
