Greetings fellow Ebayers!
I'm usually not one to talk much about myself, but I've had some friends, and some associates here at Ebay, tell me that I should have something about me for interested parties to learn more about me. This became the "All About Dusty" page on my website, which can be viewed here:
http://www.dustysdepot.com/dustysdepot_006.htm
The information here comes from that page.
I grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire. As a teenager, I went to school (of course), but my two main interests were Scouts and hanging around the local Army Navy store. Those interests have been what's mainly shaped my life. I attained the rank of Eagle Scout at around the same time I was given a job at Nashua Army Navy.
I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps delayed entry program my senior year in High School. I was active in my local Scout Troop as an Assistant Scout Master, and I was Manager of Nashua Army Navy. Upon graduation, I left for MCRD Paris Island as soon as they could get me a slot.
I was in Platoon 3110, 3rd Recruit Battalion, Mighty "Mike" Company. After I earned the title of United States Marine, I attended Infantry Training at Camp Geiger. I was with Alpha Company, and was chosen to be one of the Marine Corps Elite TOW Gunners.
My first duty station was with 2nd Platoon, Rifle Security Company Leeward, Marine Ground Defense/Security Force, Guantanamo Bay Cuba.
My next assignment was to CAAT Platoon, 3/6 WPNS Co, 2nd Mar Div. I went on a few deployments (including a tour in Oki) with 3/6.
When I was starting to get "short" my friends in STA Platoon invited me to take their indoc. My request was denied by the Company Commander, and I barely managed to keep my stripes after that conversation (thanks to 1st Sgt Kirby). So I didn't extend to go on the next float.
I was reassigned to HQ Co 6th Marines, TOW Plt. While on deployment with them, I was injured in a training accident. After several surgeries and therapy, I was Retired.
Since then I have worked a number of jobs, in a wide variety of fields. From Police to baking, private security to janitorial. I worked at Olde Tyme Army Navy in Milford New Hampshire for some 5 years, off and on. I've been dealing in Military Surplus and collectibles since 1999, mainly selling on Ebay, and in various group shops throughout Southern New Hampshire.
Altogether, I've been around the Army Navy/Military Surplus industry for about 20 years, if you include my military service.
While serving with 3/6, I was given the radio call-sign "Dusty". I was named after the GI Joe Desert Trooper.
