Eileen Morey, Fine Artist
Artist's statement:My art is mostly about light and color.
I'm a third-generation artist, with a strong background in Impressionist and Luminist color. For more than 35 years, my art has been featured in magazines, in books, and in galleries. I've been a professional artist since age 14, and featured in "Who's Who in American Art".
Oils, fabric and mixed media
Offline, I may be best known for my oil paintings--especially landscapes and semi-abstracts--and my award-winning fabric art, including quilts and wall hangings.
I also create whimsical, mixed media art. Sometimes, it's contemporary with vivid, tropical colors.
At other times, I'm inspired by quirky Victorian "curiosities" and steampunk imagery.
Online, people are most familiar with my artist's journals (illustrated diaries).
Ahead of the trends
I'm never sure which of my quirky ideas will take off as a trend. They always take me by surprise.
I was one of the first to post "daily art" online. I featured sunrise sketches, in oils, in my daily journal during 1996. That was long before blogs were popular. Then, from 2002 - 2004, I posted daily, torn paper collages in my online diary.
In 2003, I explored artist's trading cards (ATCs) and taught others to make them, online and in my popular workshop, "Make the World Your Art Gallery."
Today, my visual expressions also include color and b&w work in sketchbooks and artist sketch cards.
Professional activities
I'm a member of the International Plein Air Painters, Concord Art Association (MA), York Art Association (ME), NH Plein Air Artists, and a juried member of EBSQ Plus.
My personal life
Generally, I'm a very private person.
My hobbies include travel, hiking and camping, genealogy, Celtic history, baking, and Shakespeare.
I'm living "happily ever after" with a wonderful man who is also an artist, and I'm enormously proud of my three children.
My personal website is under construction right now, but -- in the meantime -- you can see some of my art at Eileen Morey, Fine Artist.
You can write to me at my new publishing and production company, Vim and Vinegar Productions, 1500A Lafayette Rd. #143, Portsmouth, NH 03801 USA
I welcome mailart and artistamps, and I'll respond in kind with a future mailing.
(If you're planning to send me anything larger than a regular envelope, please let me know ahead of time. Because I cannot accept unsolicited book manuscripts, unexpected packages are generally returned unopened.)
Art is the highest and most wonderful means of quality communications. Revel in it!
