What do I do when??????
I have always been employed and was never without work for some forty years. As a result of my health I am unable to continue working and I really have hated it. My lovely wife of thirty years suggested that I try my hand at E-bay and get some of my clutter on this Site for Sale! Having been in Sales and mid-level management I thought I had plenty of experience for this kind of thing. Well, I have a lot to learn and I am doing that, but this is the most interesting site I have ever seen. We have a lot of very interesting items that we have gathered over the years and we hope that some of the patrons of E-Bay will enjoy them as we have. I love to play golf and have many articles related to that endevor. We have a lot of old items that we have collected from the High Desert of Oregon and there's her Kitchen decor that seems to have changed frequently over the years. Much of this will become available as time goes by and hopefully more!
Well, after 5 yrs I've begun to fall back on an old hobby. As a fisherman I got interested in tying my own flies and making my own lures. I began doing that again and I wasn't too terribly successful here on eBay. My wonderful and supportive spouse reminded me of something I used these same skills and materials for. I used to repair her jewelry using very similar parts and tools. I made a Safety Chain for her once that kept a Bracelet from falling off due to a worn clasp. I repaired her Necklaces when they broke. I even made a few repairs for others when asked. It was suggested back in the day that I should expand on that niche. And, so I have.
As you can see I am making Necklace extenders, Safety Chains and Bracelet extenders of any types in Silver and Gold Filled Material.
I use fairly common types of clasps and a lite to medium size chain, intended to reach across the wide variety of necklaces and Bracelets that people own. One of the weakest points in Manufactured Jewelry is the "Jump Ring". It's the little loop that your clasp or connector, is held to the chain with. They open up with little to no encouragement and leave a necklace or Bracelet useless. I do not use Jump Rings in the making of my extenders, opting instead to use, Split Rings. They are a little more expensive but they are much stronger and difficult to completely separate. They appear to be part of the chain at a glance and provide a smoother transition to the Clasp than a wire tie.
We select our materials carefully to ensure that they are either Genuine .925 Sterling Silver or 14/20 14 Karat Gold Filled. I am trying desperately to find the materials without having to raise prices or start charging for Shipping. It's been very Challenging with the price of the Raw Materials going up Daily.
