Welcome to Elesar
Exotics specializing in unique handmade jewelry, African art and other
collectibles. Africa has always held a certain fascination for me.
From my first step on Kenyan soil more than thirty years ago, I knew I
would experience a life-long love affair with the continent. Over the
years, I discovered a world of wonder spending about five years in East
Africa. I worked on a wild game ranch in Kenya outside of Nairobi in Athi River; worked in Tanzania in Selous Game Reserve with an ecological consultant counting hippos and crocodiles; hung out on the south coast; spent many days in the Maasai Mara, ballooning, game driving, photographing; lived in the village of Diani, renting a Hobie Cat to tourists.
Then with a 16 year hiatus I returned to Africa but this time
to South Africa. The bug was back and in 2004 I spent almost 3 months
traveling from Nairobi to Cape Town, including Uganda and Congo. I bought
as much African art, jewelry and beads that I could carry and so begins
this segment of my life.
As a relatively new seller I am proud of my excellent feedback and look forward to serving your needs.
I have spent the last twenty years in some aspect of Customer Service
from Representative to Senior Manager. After being downsized and starting this business I find myself back in the corporate world, this time as Customer Service Manager at my prevous company. Doing what you love doesn't always pay the bills. A job gives me more opportunity to grow the business,to
travel to Africa seeking out struggling artists and helping those artists spread their creativity far from their small villages. I am trying in my own small way to help ease the suffering of the good people of Africa by purchasing their art and hopefully opening up a larger market for them to enjoy. The more I sell, the more I can buy to help these wonderfully talented people.
Each sculpture fills me with awe-how these artists can convert a piece
of wood or stone into such a thing of beauty. If I had the means, I would
never sell any of the African pieces but... live I must!
I have traveled to Peru most recently and purchased some items there that I thought would appeal to others. This year I am planning to travel to Nepal and will bring back some Nepalese and Tibetan arts and crafts. Please visit my ebay store and check back intermittently to see what's
available. Please check out my website for one-of-a-kind jewelry designs and authentic African art by clicking on the link below.
