Now That I'm A Grown Up, I Can Buy My Own Damn Toys
Way back when I was knee-high to a grasshopper (we had really big grasshoppers back then) I used to really be into Atari. I got up every morning to write my own video games, first for my Atari 400, then my 1200XL, then a 520ST. Who knew that this would lead to a career writing software for really big machines? Now I'm writing the operating system for a Focused Ion Beam, a semiconductor and materials science research tool that harnesses 150kV to edit, charge, etch and deposit with a beam size of .003 microns.
With all the complications of life, I still like to kick back with an old fashioned video game. I have a Playstation, but the games are all too complicated. What I really want are the old games, like Centipede and Galaga. So I started collecting Atari paraphenalia, mostly 7800 video game supplies and the really wierd stuff, like pins and handhelds. Occassionally I shop other things that I would be in the market for new, but that I might be able to find here cheaper, like stereo components, artwork and gifts.
