First,let me say that it has always annoyed me to come across sellers who have a two sentence description of the item being sold,with two pages following that list strict terms of purchase,conditions,inflated shipping,and warnings,if the conditions are not met.I won't buy from those type people.I like my transactions to be a little more laid back.However,recent changes with Ebay policy have forced me to clarify some issues,following below;
>>The Detailed Seller Ratings,in which a buyer grades several levels of a Sellers performance,in some instances the outcome of which is out of my control.
>>"Item As Described"--Most of the items sold here are ground recovered artifacts,and thus will have the wear and aging associated with such items.If there is any damage it will be fully described.
>>"Communication"--I,like most of you,have to work for a living,my job is such that I am gone for several days at a time,making timely emails difficult occasionally.My wife will email acknowledgment of a purchase when possible.Please be assured that we will return emails!!Also,I've noticed that emails sent through Ebay sometimes end up in a Deleted or Spam file,so you might want to check there.
>>"Shipping Time"--This is something that is totally out of my hands.I've received a Neutral Feedback from a new buyer for a three day,cross-country shipping time?That's uncalled for.Also had a Parcel item that took a month to get to Alaska.All my items are shipped utilizing the Delivery Confirmation sticker,the number which will be provided on request,or in most cases can be tracked through the Order Details section of My Ebay.
>>"Shipping And Handling Charges"--We state in the listings that "Buyer Pays Exact Amount Of Shipping".This is done so that I don't short myself or overcharge the buyer while trying to guess the weight and postage before hand.Due to new Ebay rules stating that postage rates must be quoted in auctions,Rough postage rate will be calculated using Shipping Wizard,actual cost may vary due to packing material weight.Please don't pay until I send final invoice!!I know postage is high,but again,it is out of my control.We work to find the cheapest option,according to weigh and distance!
>>Feedback--I always leave feedback for all successfully completed transactions,ask that the buyer contacts me when item is safely received.For some reason,people don't respond in kind.The number of feedbacks shown only reflects about half of my transactions on ebay.
>>International Buyers--I have always sold to International Buyers,and will continue to do so,but be aware that the United States Post Office will not insure to many countries anymore,so you buy at your own risk.I photograph all packages and Customs numbers to verify shipment,and will provide upon request.Also,Customs Offices in foreign countries could hold up delivery for some time.
Anyway,enough of all this!You get the picture,that communication is the key!!Let the bidding,buying begin!!

The Story Behind The Purple Glass
***********************************************************************************
The beautiful amethyst or lavender color of this glass is a result of a curious chemical reaction among certain compounds used in the manufacture of glass.The natural color resulting from the basic ingredients of glass,sand,soda,and lime,is varying shades of aqua,or green.Merchants of the mid 19th recognized the value of being able to display their products in clear glass vessels,so a compound,called manganese,was added to batches of raw glass at the factories,the result being the finished product of a crystal clear container!!. A side effect of the clarified glass with manganese is the ability to change into a brilliant dark amethyst when exposed to ultra violet rays over a period of time.Most of the manganese used in glass factories came from Germany,WW1 broke out in 1914, it became much harder to obtain manganese. Other oxide decolorizers were then used instead, so most bottles made after 1918 or so don’t turn amethyst.This bottle has been purpled by a process called “irradiation”, which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster.Those of you who live in high sun areas,such as the Western American Desert,may have noticed dark purple shards around old ghost towns,or house sites.Compare these bottles to the shards and you will see an identical result.Real Desert Glass is hard,if not impossible to find anymore,we offer these items as additions for the collector and lover of purple glass!!!. |
