Welcome to Exotic Glimmerings - Hand-made and Custom Jewelry. Exotic Glimmerings specializes in hand-made fine pagan jewelry set with exotic and unusual stones and crystals. Herkimer diamond jewelry is one of my main specialties!
Herkimer diamonds are the elite royalty of quartz crystals and only come from Herkimer, NY. In Herkimer, NY, the conditions are just right to produce these rare and beautiful crystals. The "typical" Herkimer diamond is double terminated and water clear - much brighter and more clear that other forms of rock crystal quartz. There are many rare and interesting formations of Herkimer diamonds, and Exotic Glimmerings sets all of them. If you would like to choose your own special Herkimer diamond, I recommend Herki'Miners Place, which is where I get all the Herkimers I set. If you purchase crystals from Herki'Miners Place, you can request that they ship the crystal directly to me for setting. It will then be shipped to me, set, and shipped to you. I also specialize in metaphysical and magical jewelry. Most of the metaphysical jewelry is used for healing and working on the chakras - bringing them into balance with each other. The magical jewelry is typically used ritually or enchanted with spells placed on them - either by their new owner or me. I hand make each piece of jewelry and have been making jewelry for over 20 years, as well as being a pagan and studying gemology. I practice Celtic nature magic - Druidic and shamantistic. I have also studied Wicca (very similar - a sister craft) and High Ceremonial magic (Ennochian). In addition to this, I have an extensive library to look up the stuff that has slipped my mind! When it comes to ritual, magical, and metaphysical custom jewelry, the more specific you can be about what you need, the better it will work for you and help me. Consultations are always available for free - for design, gemstones, and questions about the properties and uses of gemstones.
Exotic Glimmerings now has a private and comfortable studio for consultations. Consultations are done by appointment to provide you with confidentiality and comfortable and peaceful atmosphere to choose your gemstones, designs, and have all questions answered. Email consultations are also available, but they aren't as much fun!

Inspirations
I have studied mineralogy, gemology, and gemstone lore and history for many years, since I was a child and my grandfather, a pilot for United, and grandmother would travel and bring me fossil and minerals from all over the world. I also have to credit both of them with great influence in my interest of ancient jewelry. I have been influenced and inspired by ancient Egpytian, Greek, Roman, Babylonian, and Etruscan jewelry as well as jewelry from many other periods. Wire jewelry and filigree has been around for thousands of years and used in many inovated and beautiful ways. I would also have to credit Rene Lalique with much inspiration - jeweler and artist of amazing talent and breadth. George Frederick Kunz is another major inspiration and an amazing jewelry historian and gemologist. I highly recommend any of his books! The breadth of his knowledge and expertise has yet to be equaled. I have also learned many techniques from many different jewelers and instructors, including Gerald Wykoff and Preston Reuther. I love collecting jewelry art and history books and getting ideas from many of those designs.
