God blesses those who trust in Him…
Back in 2005 my husband & I were working very long hours and trying to juggle the schedule that is typical of a family our size; yet we slipped further & further behind with each month. Our marriage was in bad shape, our kids never saw us, life had become tired and unhappy.
We decided to try to build a supplemental income through eBay. We were way behind on the bills and this would either make us or seriously break us. It would put us further behind & if it didn’t work, we would have no way to regain the damage. I knew that God loved our family, has entrusted us to raise these children and would bless our efforts to keep our priorities straight, trusting Him.
God may not show up early but He is NEVER too late…
In my heart I knew that God promises to bless those who trust in and rely on Him, but I would be lying if I said it wasn’t extremely scary. For a few months we barely broke even. Every day seemed longer as we felt the heaviness of debt looming over us. At times, we questioned whether or not we were doing the right thing. My faith was challenged daily and felt dim at times, but I was determined to believe that Jesus wanted to pour His life into ours. I held on to Him and the belief that He would provide. AND HE DID!!! God may not arrive early…but He is NEVER too late.
He is able to do far more than all we ask or imagine…
I would like to say it was an over-night success; it would sound very impressive wouldn’t it. And, of course that is what I thought we would experience. The truth is He grew us slowly over the course of two years. He did bless our finances but gave us far more than we asked. He not only rebuilt our finances, but rebuilt our marriage, led my Husband to commit his life to Him, Led our boys to Him, Led us into ministry, provided us with a new home, advanced my husband in his job, and soooo much more (all in less than 2 years!)
The greatest blessing of this adventure is that He grew our faith with blessing upon blessing. Each step of progress got us through to the next. Each time debt threatened to defeat us, Jesus showed up with a blessing that was bigger than the threat! It became obvious that He was holding us in His grace. We have learned not to fear because God is bigger than circumstances and is thrilled to protect & provide for His children! When we realized that the desire in God’s heart was the same as what is in ours (to love, protect & provide for our children) we finally understood how we could be sure that He would never let us fall…even when our own blunders seem to get in the way.
I write this to encourage anyone who is willing to read it…
Life is hard...very hard at times, but He is bigger than your circumstances! We have been fortunate enough to experience that first hand. It is our hope that our story will encourage you to trust Him to make you everything He created you to be!
