Where's the fire? New York...born and raised. The son of a NYC firefighter (1953 - 1975) a lifelong FDNY Buff and an Honorary FDNY Battalion Chief. I like to collect FDNY antiques but am just as happy to find things from other large metro FD's, like Chicago, LA, SF, Boston, DC, Phila, etc. Personal items like badges and helmets are the favorite, but I also like OLD books and paper. Since prices for US items have gone sky high, I have taken a liking to foreign FD items and have a respectable collection of them. |

Read all about it! I have just completed a comprehensive history book on fire departments in NYC, including the FDNY, using BADGES as the principal illustrations...over 940 in 23 chapters plus 230+ other illustrations. The book, "Badges of the Bravest," is available from a number of sources including the NYC Fire Museum, FSP Books & Videos, and Barnes & Noble. I have several other FDNY books in the works. |
