A BIT ABOUT JEWELLERY
Diamonds, and colored
gemstones have always been the most coveted and expressive forms of
jewellery. While people prize Diamonds, Rubies, and Emeralds, other
gemstones such as Sapphires Topaz and Tanzanite are sought after, and
in
some cases preferred, for their bright colours and value . In
purchasing
a gemstone it is always considered better to purchase a smaller genuine
gemstone rather than a larger simulated gemstone.
BIRTHSTONES
From the time
gemstones were discovered, they were believed to have mystical powers
and attributes. The red of Ruby was fiery and passionate; the cool blue
Sapphire was calm and composed. Somewhere over 1500 years ago,
people began pairing each of the stones and their attributes with the
months of the year and the signs of the Zodiac, and with time, the
mythology of birthstones evolved. There are actually several birthstone
lists in use today, the most common one having been adopted in the
twentieth century .However, some months still have more than one
birthstone, and some people prefer to use the selections that are
attached to the signs of the Zodiac. The chart below is probably the
one adopted by most Jewelers.

ABOUT- GOLD AND SILVER
Gold is a beautiful
and imperishable metal. It was one of the first metals to ever be
mined because it commonly occurs in it's native form (100% pure).
Pure 100% gold is
much too soft, and it is usually mixed with other metals ( gold alloys)
to make it stronger and more usable for jewellery. This still
designates the gold content of jewellery as solid gold, however it
indicates the purity of gold by ARATS and is designated below.

Silver is the most
reflective of the precious metals, with Sterling Silver being the
standard of quality for jewellery containing 92.5% Silver and 7.5%
copper. In jewellery this is designated as Solid 925 Sterling Silver.
