Why do I Love to Restore Broken Pots??
Good question, wouldn't you say?? Most people trash any broken piece and look with disdain on a piece of restored pottery. I take them and lovingly restore them back to their former glory.
Several years ago... like almost 15, my husband Ed and I were selling antiques in a few booths in the Kansas City area where I was working at the time.
I have since retired from a 19 year career with Hallmark Cards, Inc. where I worked in a department that redesigned greeting card artwork to be reused again and again. This was my proving ground for learning to match colors and repaint a piece of artwork in the manner and style of the former artist.
As Ed and I went about looking for items for our different booths, we became aware of many pieces of furniture and pottery that required restoration. We purchased those pieces with the idea of restoring them to what they were before.
Ed had found a craftman's shop in Lees Summit that would allow him to work on his new found pieces. I, meanwhile, looked for a restorer to take some training from and was able to take training from two excellent restorers.
I spent well over a year learning my new found skills and when I felt confident that I could do an excellent job, I started advertising my business. That has been almost 15 years ago and I now have a thriving business restoring all manner of porcelain, china and pottery.
My favorite pieces are Roseville pieces. I look for pieces of Roseville that need a bit of help and then re-sell them to people who are interested in collecting a nice piece and are not afraid to have a piece that has been professionally restored.
Do you not realize the importance of preserving these wonderful pieces? If a piece has a chip or a crack, most people will still display it by turning the injured part to the back. Others will sell it or consider it worthless.
Let me tell you! That piece is not worthless!! With a small amount of knowledge, that piece can be as good as new.
If a piece has major imprefections like missing pieces, badly glued and miscolored areas, it will naturally take more skill on the restorers part to bring it back to what it once was.
I have that skill and knowledge. I can provide photos and satisfied customers who will witness to my skills. I am a slow restorer... I take my time.... often longer than the customer wants, but when they receive their piece, they are thrilled that I took that time.
My work is guaranteed. I will refund your fee plus shipping and insurance. I will keep you informed as to how the piece is coming along. If I run into a difficulty, I will let you know.
My hope is that in writing this information, you will feel confident in trusting me with your precious heirloom or piece that needs restoration. That I can also educate you on the importance of keeping these fine pieces available for future generations to enjoy as we have.
If they find their way to the land fill, no-one will know how wonderful the pieces of Roseville or other fine pottery is. They will be lost forever.
Restoration and Conservation are important ways of keeping a piece historically sound. Museums do it and have for centuries. Why does that not apply to individuals who have an important piece of history.
On a totally different note....
I have been a direct distributor in a Network Marketing company for the past two years and am building a team of people who want to break away from the traditional business world and work from home.
I got started as a means to make some extra money to help my son have a residual income for the future when I am no longer here. He is disabled and can't work long hours at a time. My pottery restoration business is good now, but as I age, I will become unable to work as frequently as I have been. I decided that a business that works for itself is what I ultimately wanted to provide.
As most of you know, a network marketing business takes a few years to get off the ground and mine is no different. However, with the economy as it is, more and more people are interested in making some extra money to help with the bills.
If this appeals to any of you readers, please take a moment to send me an email at Audrey.Greenwell@gmail.com and I will be most happy to send you some information.
I hate spam and scams as much as the next person, so know that I will not do that to you. This is a legitimate business and it does take some work and money to get it started, but the rewards far outweigh the efforts expended.
If it is worth doing, it is worth doing well. That is my motto in my restoration business as well as my network marketing business. Check it out. It might be right up your alley!!
