Hi! I like to introduce myself and thank you for stopping by my page. My name is Talea Jurrens and I am the proprietress of Four Square Books and Genealogy. I recently moved from a big city to a small town in the Midwest so that I could be closer to my family. In doing so, Ie been fortunate enough to be able to pursue several of the things I love. Ie always been interested in books, history and genealogy. Ie also had a dream of owning and living in a Church. Upon moving here, I found the perfect place to do both. However, with these dreams came a lot of responsibility. I began to sell some of my collections and other things on Ebay so that I could raise funds for the renovation and restoration of the Church which is in great disrepair. I am doing all of this on my own with no funding, repairs or construction from outside sources. (Friends and family do help)
My Church was built by the parishioners in 1930 partially using Silverdale Stone. The outside was a combination of slate shingles & Silverdale Stone. The former owner removed everything from the inside & outside walls of the "hall" only leaving partial stone walls outside. He also caused much destruction and did not attempt to complete the repairs. Some rooms were converted into apartments which I now live in. These rooms are in a bit better shape but still need lots of odds & ends.
Someday I plan to research all of the history & events that happened here. It was used as a Church for about 60 years. My Mom went here as a little girl and may have even baptized here. The baptismal can still be accessed from the basement however it has been partially blocked off and a bathroom built over it.
Although there is much damage, this place is still wonderful. You can see the care that went into the original building workmanship. The atmosphere is that of peace and love. There is an endless amount of work to be done here but I will continue to do what I can to give this Church the respect and love that it deserves. Ie attached a couple of pictures of the Church so that you may have an idea of what it like.
It would be most kind of you if you could take a few minutes to browse my auction listings and visit my store. I would greatly appreciate any and all of your purchases as it would be a big help. Please feel free to write or ask questions. I would love to hear from you. |
