I WILL BE OUT OF CONTACT UNTIL OCTOBER 26TH, 2001. I AM MAKING ANOTHER TRIP TO SOUTH AMERICA TO GET MORE EXOTIC PRODUCTS! Sorry for any inconvience. ![]() Here's a Shrunken Head for all of you Curious Georges!!!!! Bringing You The Best of The Ecuadorian Culture! Hello! My name is Megan and I'm in charge of sales and customer relations here at Salangome! We're here to bring you beautiful jewelry and crafts from the talented hands of brilliant Ecuadorian Artisanos. Everything we sell is number one in quality and uniqueness! Everything we sell is also hand-carved, so that you get the work of humans and not a factory line. Salangome Arts and Crafts! Salangome's oldest and most beautiful products include our brilliant mother of pearl necklaces. The man who hand-carves these necklaces free-dives for the Black Mother of Pearl shell (the finest of all the mother of pearls), and then carves them into elegant pendants. Salangome also sells tagua figurines and chess sets. These figurines are hand-carved out of "tagua", a vegetable ivory found ONLY in the Rainforests of South America. The chess sets we import are hard to get, because each and every piece is hand-carved out of Tagua. The workmanship is amazing, as is the detail of the pieces. Tagua was once used to make buttons, until plastic was invented, but it is regaining popularity today! One of the reasons Tagua is growing in popularity is that when you buy anything made of tagua from the indigenous people, you are preserving a tiny bit of Rainforest. Since you are supporting Ecuadorian Natives when you bid on our items, there is less need to destroy their land in order to make a living. But not only are you helping preserve important land, but you are also helping preserve precious aspects of their culture! Our last, and most popular product though, is the Shrunken Head. Yes, you hear me, the Shrunken Head :) The heads Salangome sells are mimics of the real kind that the Jivaro Indians used to make out of their enemies' heads! Since head-shrinking has become illegal, the Indians are preserving their culture by producing replicas of these heads using goat and sheep skin and hair. You have got to see these heads! Take a look at our auctions to check 'em out! Also, look below for an exotic taste of Ecuadorian culture! Favorite Links This is one of my favorite Tagua Figurine Pics! Here's A Cute Penguin Mother of Pearl Necklace :) And Here's Another Awesome Tagua Figurine! |
