All About Fun Spanish
Fun Spanish is the third work I've had published. I'll get to the other 2 in a bit.
As a child, I always had an easy time learning a foreign language, whether in school or from my many Italian relatives unlike most others who struggle with even the easiest Spanish.
I learned later in life that I was visualizing English words and pictures in my mind in place of Spanish or Italian or really any language.
Eventually, I placed my thoughts on paper via my trusty macintosh computer and created Fun Spanish flashcards, the first in what will be many different sets of flashcards.
So if you can speak English, you can speak any language in the world with my fun approach. For example, take an ice cream cone, a goose and your toe. Means nothing, right? But string them together with emphasis on the goose and you've got Cone GOOSE Toe, Fun Spanish for "with pleasure." (con gusto)
Here's another. Take 3 body parts, your elbow, your knee and your toe. Again, means nothing in English, but string them together and emphasize the KNEE and you've got Elbow KNEE Toe (el bonito) which roughly translates to "the good one."
Once you're convinced that Spanish is really only rearranged English, there is no limit to what you can learn. And you can stop wasting your time and money on books, cards and tapes at the bookstore. I've been through hundreds of them and none of them work. I think the major publishers know their products don't work, but don't really care because there are thousands of people who buy them and make them money. How many products do you buy knowing beforehand they don't work? Probably not many. I asked my agent why we can't approach some of the well-known language publishers like Berlitz, Inlingua, etc. He responded, "They're snobby publishers who don't embrace new ideas. They'd rather stick with their old approaches, even if they don't work and are boring, tedious and awful." Isn't that sad?
What's great about Fun Spanish is that, because it's just rearranged English words, you can't make a mistake. As you learn to string together more English words, you'll be shocked how quickly and easily you can speak Fun Spanish. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't. They obviously haven't seen Fun Spanish.
So my humble goal is to change the world. Imagine a world with no language barriers. Imagine a world, maybe in a few years, where folks can learn as many languages as they want merely by speaking rearranged English words.
What qualifies me to teach the world a new way to learn a language? I attended Penn State (way back in the 80's) and studied International Business and foreign language. I've spent a year abroad in my life learning languages. I can't get enough of them. I really think it's a shame that everyone doesn't know how easy language is. I almost think Fun Spanish is an invention to help eliminate language barriers just like some people eliminate sickness with their inventions.
Oh yeah. My other 2 books I've had published were based on another site I publish, www.slanguage.com. Slanguage helps you talk like the locals in cities throughout the world.
