When I first began selling it was in an effort to empty out storage units filled with Sports Clothing and memoribilia. We had owned a restaurant and had collected loads of items used for display, as well as, items used for catalog shoots which could no longer be sold as new. As the years marched on I saw a need for licensed items at reasonable prices for infants, toddlers and BIG guys. Many of my customers count on me to find items to complete birthday, Christmas, and other holiday gift lists. More and more of my items are brand new with tags as that is what people want. Of course, when I find a treasure I list it - new or not!!
For the past few years I have dedicated ALL of the profits from pet-related merchandise to fostering animals for the Delaware County Humane Society. Recently, I joined Midwest Boston Terrier rescue but after dealing with politics and people who seem to have forgotten the mission of rescuing animals in favor of stroking their own egos I am no longer with them. Still almost all of my profits from every sale is going to support the multitude of animals we are currently caring for. In fact we just added Jeff Gordon our new Pug to the family! Presently our little group includes a daschund, Bullshit (Boston Bull ans Shitzu) named Paypal, Phoenix, a staffy who was set on fire, and a Chow Chow named Samuri - and that's just the dogs. If you would like to be part of these efforts call your local humane society or go to your favorite animals rescue site. Remember, don't let one person interfere with your ability, willingness or desire to help. Even if you can't foster or adopt an animal right now you can virtually adopt an animal or simply contribute money, skills, merchandise or time. It takes a village to raise a child but it takes all of us to save the animals who make our lives so rich. (Not to worry most items are stored in a secure smoke-free pet free environment. Yet, items which are used may have been exposed previously.) |
