I quit a 12 hour a day sales job because my quality of life was suffering too much!  I started selling on eBay so I could work in a pleasant environment (my home) and set my own schedule.  We live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and most of our eBay business is consignment sales. We've been doing this for over 3 and a half years, and it has replaced my full time job income. I love it, and from the beginning, it seemed to take on a life of its own. I am now an Education Specialist Trained by eBay in The Basics of Selling on eBay, Beyond the Basics and eBay Giving Works for non-profit fundraising. To track my sales for each individual consignor, I developed a database that streamlines creating listings (to then transfer to TurboLister) and also produces spreadsheets showing a full breakdown of fees and totals that I owe each client. 3 1/2 years ago I quit my job working for a Fortune 500 company and started selling some of my own items on eBay from home while deciding what job I wanted to look for. When my family and friends would ask what I was doing and I told them I was selling some things on eBay, many of them asked, "Oh, what would you charge to sell some things for me?" I started selling for friends and family and never did need to get another job. At first I provided them with spreadsheets that showed the eBay fees, my commission and their portion. Soon after I developed a database that produced the spreadsheets for me. It makes EVERY part of the eBay listing process easier, and now I can offer it to others on a web-based platform. 

If you have anyone who has asked you to sell on consignment for them, I wanted to let you know that the consignment database that I created for myself to make selling for others on eBay MUCH easier, is now on a web based platform and is available as a monthly or yearly subscription. It is only $10 per month or if you pay for a year, it is $100 for the whole year. This program generates reports for your clients and assigns item numbers based on which client you are selling the item for. It simplifies the listing process and also the accounting. This will equip you to start your own eBay consignment business right from your own home. (Please note that it does not train you to sell on eBay. Once you know how to sell your own items on eBay, this now gives you the tools you need to sell for others on consignment.)

I already have students who have had requests to sell for other people, and they are now using my program. This program even makes the listing process easier, and it helps sellers to stay focused and get listings completed. The reason I say that is that its easy to get motivated to research what your item will sell for. Now when you look up similar completed listings, you can immediately paste that information into the database. Then you can also copy the category the successful listing was listed in on eBay and paste it into the database. Then all you have to do is to take the picture. Once I take the picture, I put a piece of tape or a stick-um on the item with the item number generated by the database. Now when you have a few items done, you can open TurboLister and all you need to do is to copy and paste the info from my database into TurboLister. Once the item sells, the user manual will show you what steps to take to record the sale. The program generates separate reports for each of your clients showing them the sold price, net selling price, your commission and their portion. It also generates sales tax reports for you so you don’t have to track that separately. It is $10 per month OR $100 for the whole year. The yearly subscription comes complete with a training, and the program also comes with an easy to follow user manual. You can download your data onto a spreadsheet on your computer at any time. **If you do not have a spreadsheet program, you can download Open Office © which is a free office suite by Sun Microsystems© that includes a spreadsheet program. Secure: other users are unable to view your data.
