My purchase experience with Global Antiques Holland can be summarized as: professional, efficient, honest, timely, and reliable. Furthermore, the price for the item I purchased (a marble fireplace mantel) was reasonable and easily justified the additional expense of customs duty, port handling fees, and shipment from New York to Washington DC. The importation of a major item (in this case, fragile and weighing several hundred pounds) can be daunting. From the moment I contacted Global's owner, Mr. Wil Tegenbosch, I was kept apprised of the entire transaction. Wil expeditiously answered all my questions concerning the item and the shipping procedures (at one point he returned my call from his cell phone, while hunting for antiques in France). Once I made the purchase, he emailed scanned copies of the invoice and shipping documents, and within days the mantel was at the port of Antwerp for onward shipment to the U.S. The packaging of the mantel was impressive. Encased in a custom made frame, it arrived without a scratch. As a private collector, I have purchased and imported fine art and antiques from auction houses and dealers in the United States, Europe, and Africa.
