Necessity Is The Mother Of Invention
As the mother of two summer-time swimmers, I got tired of trying to figure out which goggles, in a pile of nearly identical goggles, belonged to my kids! Names written in pen on the straps faded and tying a ribbon or string on them told us, but no one else, who they belonged to. Soooo, in 2002 I came up with a solution! Personalized, water-proof I.D. tags in fun, colorful shapes for swim goggles.
Goggle Taggles Are Born!
Now, many revisions, prototypes and a patent application later, I have sold thousands of personalized and initial Goggle Taggles to individuals and teams in over 40 states and several countries. I am so pleased when people contact me with stories about how Goggle Taggles have saved them money by allowing people who have found the missing goggles to return them to their owners. The moms and kids at our pool (A.K.A. The Goggle Taggle Advisory Board) have been a great source of feedback and support.
A New Way To Collect Swim Caps!
Then I came up with a new product for Goggle Taggles - Cap Bags. Using high quality zippers, I convert swim caps into fun bags for keeping your dry stuff dry in your swim bag. I offer solid colored Cap Bags as well as Cap Bags with fun swim slogans on them. Teams and organizations are having extra swim caps converted into Cap Bags for fundraisers, rewards or team gifts. Individual swimmers are finding them to be a unique way to add to their swim cap collection. These are a really fun gift idea or party favor.
More Uses for Goggle Taggles!
2005 began with the launch of two new Goggle Taggle lines. The first, Game Taggles, can be used to label and protect your GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, GameBoy SP, Nintedo DS or any other electronic game that has a slot that will hold something like a wrist band.
The second use still needs a name - it is for labeling stethoscopes. Anybody have any ideas? On the practical side, medical professionals typically move from place to place working with clients and patients and can easily set this important piece of equipment down. Labeling a stethoscope can help get it back to its owner. Also, Goggle Taggles are washable - I even tested them with rubbing alcohol and the personalized info was unaffected. I think this is a great way to interact with possibly nervous patients, especially children, giving them something to look at or talk about. With the sports ball shapes you get a chance to display some of your interests outside of your day job.
Goggle Taggles Gets Wordy
I'm excited about 2006's new product - Aqua Tats. Seeing my kids and their friends do all sorts of body decorations for the end of the summer championship meet gave me this idea. Aqua Tats are temporary tattoos of some swim words with some additional words to "connect" them. Much like poetry magnets, swimmers can arrange the words in dozens of combinations to spell out their own motivational messages. The great thing is that although they last longer than the make up pencils that the kids around here use, they come off easily with rubbing alcohol or baby oil. This is unlike using Sharpies (Ann and Liz - no hard feelings! REALLY!) which I know from experience take lots of scrubbing to come off. I've packaged them in quantities large enough to share with friends and teammates to make some fun of it. If these take off I'd like to expand to making them up in different team colors.
